If you are traveling to Grand Cayman then you won't have to worry about finding a bank or an ATM to use no matter where in the world you are from. The capital of George Town is the offshore financial centre and all the main banks are situated here. As you travel farther out of town there are ATM's normally situated in supermarkets. However the majority of business and restaurants take popular credit cards. All banks offer a counter service and are generally open Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm.

If you are traveling to the Sister Islands, Cayman Brac or Little Cayman then it's a different story! There is one branch of Cayman National Bank (CNB) on each Island. There are no other banks, however CNB are open usual banking hours and can handle most transactions over the counter. There is an ATM situated at the Cayman Brac branch.

The official currency is the Cayman Island Dollar,  you will see this expressed as either KYD, or CI$.  The US dollar is also accepted everywhere, the rate is fixed at CI$0.80 to US$1.00 . If you purchase anything with US dollars you will receive your change in the official currency of KYD.
