90% of the residents on both sides of the island speak English. French is widely spoken on the French side but you will hear Dutch less often. You will hear a lot of Spanish and even the caribbean dialect Paupiamento (sp?) which is a combination of Dutch, Spanish, African dialects and even a little English that is most commonly spoken in Curacao and Aruba
