Castries Waterworks Reserve is one of the eight protected rain-forest reserves in St. Lucia. It has been protected since 1916

The reserve was established for two purposes:

  1. To protect the plant and animal species
  2. To harness the water resources

The Reserve consists  of 3442 acres of land.

It was named the Castries Waterworks Reserve because water was supplied to the castries using this reserve. However upon completion of the Sir John Compton Dam or formally known as the Roseau Dam, the castries no longer receives its water from the Castries Waterworks Reserve.
