Though Isla de Vieques does not offer the shopping opportunities of San Juan , there are a few nice art galleries. The
Casa Vieja Gallery
, located on Route 201 La Hueca, has featured contemporary fine art for 12 years. Painting and art classes are also available. And the
Siddhia Hutchinson Gallery
, situated between the lighthouse and the ferry dock, features the work of a local artist, as well as prints of local landscapes and seascapes, native flowers, fish and wildlife. The gallery also features hand-painted ceramics, including bowls, mugs and platters. Some other spots worth checking out include Luna Loca Gallery, Taina Pottery Workshop, Viques Photos, and Melanie Wells Photography.
Or, for lower-key gifts or knick-knacks, check out Vieques Flowers & Gifts, or Caroline’s Gift Shop on Main Street in the downtown area, which offers a variety of souvenirs, as well as anything you might need for during your visit.
The gift shop at the Vieques Trust, on the Malecon in Esperanza, is quite nice, and the shop in the fort museum in Isabel Segunda has wonderful old postcards and other items. Most of the books there are in Spanish.
