Kayaking in a bioluminescent bay

There are three bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico, Mosquito Bay off Vieques, being one of the brightest in the world.   These bays glow with an eerie blue-green light created by plankton which thrive in these unique ecosystems.   Try taking a kayak with Eco Tours ($40 each) to Las Croabas Lagoon in Fajardo.  This is the most accessible bay from the capital, San Juan.   Motor boats have been banned to promote eco-tourism and preserve the bays. The sparkling dark water is amazing!  Make sure to go on a moonless night when this phenomenon is most visible.

The kayaking is relatively easy and you can ask for a guide in your kayak if you are nervous or have a child with you.
