The stores of Aruba are stocked with well-priced imported merchandise.  Aruba is a "Shopper's Paradise," with perfume, liquor, linens, jewelry, watches, cameras, designer fashions, crystal and china among the luxury items available at excellent prices. Many stores also feature local handicrafts.   You can also find souveniers and other tourist items in a line of booths along the main street in Oranjestad.

Most stores and boutiques are located in Oranjestad, but excellent shops can also be found inside the larger hotels, across the road from the high-rise hotel area, and at the airport. Others can be found in the Seaport Village Mall, Seaport Market Place, the Royal Plaza, Port of Call Market Place, Aventura Mall, the Holland Aruba Mall, the Sun Plaza and the Atrium Mall. There are new shopping centers near the high-rise hotels, such as Paseo Herencia which also has a movie theather and Palm Beach Plaza.   Aloe is abundant in Aruba and skin care products are manufactured right on the island.

Stores on the main streets are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, although some are closed for lunch between noon and 2 p.m.  These stores generally have prices in the Aruban Florin and will give a fair exchange rate to the dollar, Euro and other foreign (to Aruba) currency.    Shops in the malls and shopping centers are open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some stores are open on Sundays and holidays only when cruise ships are in port.  Major world credit cards are usually accepted, as well as traveller's checks.  When using a credit card you should be aware of the issuer's policy on foreign exchange surcharges.
