- Fodor's Pocket Aruba, 3rd Editon (Pocket Guides) -- by Karen W. Bressler
- Frommer's Portable Aruba (Frommer's Portable) -- by Ken Lindley
- Both are very useful books to read prior to taking a trip to Aruba. There is some similar information in the two books, yet each do have individual aspects that make them unique reads.
If I had to recommend just one I would have to go with the Frommer's Portable Aruba book since it has a nice section that provides guidelines and landmarks for adventuring around the island in a vehicle and on foot. It is not always easy to find exact locations but this book does provide some guidance on what to look for. (Sometimes getting "lost" is half the fun of exploring!) Since Aruba is only 19 miles long by 6 miles wide, you will eventually either find what you are looking for or get back to a place where you know where you are. You can always follow the direction the Divi trees point to get back to the capital.
A former Aruba resident has written an e-booklet entitled, "How to Enjoy Aruba, One Man's Opinion." It is intended for the first time Aruba visitor, but it has loads of material for the experienced Aruba traveler, too. It covers where to stay, what to do, and where to eat. It is packed with "insider" tips. It is free and available online at ArubaKid.com.
