  • Major features: beaches, water sports, nightlife
  • 4,046 TripAdvisor reviews of 284 accommodations, 68 attractions and 134 restaurants
Mountain views, raucous nightlife and a C-shaped bay with a plethora of beaches make Acapulco a more upscale, yet reasonably priced, escape than its spring-break cousin, Cancun.

  • Major features: beaches, parks, water sports, golf courses

Strongly influenced by the tribal culture of the Guanches (the original inhabitants), Tenerife was conquered by the Spanish 500 years ago.

  • 107,010 TripAdvisor reviews of 4,116 accommodations, 554 attractions and 1,656 restaurants
"When in Rome, do as the Romans." That classic advice leads to a wealth of options: Should you follow Augustus and Caesar, whose Rome is filled with spectacular ancient structures? Or Michelangelo and Da Vinci, whose city invites artistic pilgrimage? Maybe you'll discover the Rome that enchants lovers and sightseers alike? Rome encompasses all this and more.
Paphos, Cyprus

  • Major features: historic buildings, beaches
  • 9,328 TripAdvisor reviews of 411 accommodations, 21 attractions and 80 restaurants
Paphos, the capital of western Cyprus, has some serious historical clout. Site of the vast fourth-century BC Tombs of the Kings, set high on a cliff above the sparkling sea, as well as a dramatic Byzantine castle and fine mosaics, it's also known as the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite.
Benidorm, Spain
  • Resident population: 66,902 Annual visitors: 2,457,000 (est.)

Bask on four miles of golden beaches, hit the Mediterranean Sea on water skis or stroll along Benidorm's promenade and revel in its seaside charms; it's a true Spanish beauty of the Costa Blanca.
