Destinations of the Day
Paphos, Cyprus
  • Resident population: 27,000 (est.)
  • Major features: historic buildings, beaches
  • 9,206 TripAdvisor reviews of 253 accommodations, 21 attractions and 79 restaurants
Paphos, the capital of western Cyprus, has some serious historical clout. Site of the vast fourth-century BC Tombs of the Kings, set high on a cliff above the sparkling sea, as well as a dramatic Byzantine castle and fine mosaics, it's also known as the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite.
Tenerife, Spain
  • Resident population: 852,945 Annual visitors: 3,440,000 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, parks, water sports, golf courses
  • 23,828 TripAdvisor reviews of 658 accommodations, 133 attractions and 783 restaurants
Strongly influenced by the tribal culture of the Guanches (the original inhabitants), Tenerife was conquered by the Spanish 500 years ago.
Acapulco, Mexico
  • Resident population: 616,394 Annual visitors: 5,000,000 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, water sports, nightlife
  • 3,976 TripAdvisor reviews of 207 accommodations, 68 attractions and 134 restaurants
Mountain views, raucous nightlife and a C-shaped bay with a plethora of beaches make Acapulco a more upscale, yet reasonably priced, escape than its spring-break cousin, Cancun.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
  • Resident population: 30,596 Annual visitors: 14,600,000 (est.)
  • Major features: golf courses, beaches, amusement parks, nightlife, casino cruises, fishing, shopping
  • 23,387 TripAdvisor reviews of 892 accommodations, 88 attractions and 338 restaurants
One may think the sun, 60 miles of wide sandy beaches and more than a hundred golf courses would be enough to lure vacationers to Myrtle Beach, but this popular coastal city offers even more to enjoy.
Key West, Florida
  • Resident population: 22,364 (est.)
  • Major features: water sports, beaches
  • 24,620 TripAdvisor reviews of 660 accommodations, 152 attractions and 219 restaurants
Where else are Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett equally revered? Key West is a sunny, fun destination with enough sights to keep you busy when you're not snorkeling, parasailing or catching some rays.
