Visiting Los Roques National Park, Venezuela

Low-key Los Roques, the country's largest marine park, hovers about 100 miles north of Caracas in the Caribbean Sea. Mangroves, sea-grass beds and white sands hug the shores of this archipelago, which is fringed with scuba-worthy coral reefs. Above the surface, windsurfing, sailing, sport fishing and sunbathing also draw ample attention. Most of the tourist accommodations can be found on El Gran Roque, accessible via a short flight from Venezuela or by private boat charter.
Best fare found from Chicago to Caracas: $1,045
