We loved the small-town charm of Talkeetna so much that we added an extra night there in our Alaska itinerary. This town has some serious mountaineering lore...and we were there after the climbing...more

Given the fact that you're on a Spur Road that can only get you to one place, this is one of the places to go! We traveled to Alaska on our own and opted to stay in Talkeetna, AK. A town with less...more

I found Talkeetna on a map while looking for a stop outside of Anchorage (and on the way to Denali). What a find. Friendly, beautiful, and unique. The Wildflower may have the best Halibut sandwish...more
