Destinations of the Day
Honolulu, Hawaii
  • Resident population: 374,676 Annual visitors: 1,733,000 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, surfing, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head
  • 32,633 TripAdvisor reviews of 406 accommodations, 208 attractions and 1,129 restaurants
If you visit Honolulu simply for the wide Pacific beaches, the striking views of Ko'olau's pali (cliffs) and the laid-back "aloha" feeling, you'll be missing out on much this city has to offer.
Paphos, Cyprus
  • Resident population: 27,000 (est.)
  • Major features: historic buildings, beaches
  • 9,277 TripAdvisor reviews of 377 accommodations, 21 attractions and 79 restaurants
Paphos, the capital of western Cyprus, has some serious historical clout. Site of the vast fourth-century BC Tombs of the Kings, set high on a cliff above the sparkling sea, as well as a dramatic Byzantine castle and fine mosaics, it's also known as the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite.
Lahaina, Hawaii
  • Resident population: 9,118 (est.)
  • Major features: nightlife, beaches, luaus
  • 17,718 TripAdvisor reviews of 438 accommodations, 87 attractions and 147 restaurants
One of Hawaii's most interesting historic towns, the former Hawaiian capital also has a rich Yankee whaling history. In the 1800s, Lahaina was the center of the global whaling trade and its beautiful Historic District is a National Historical Landmark.
Venice, Italy

  • 48,008 TripAdvisor reviews of 1,393 accommodations, 184 attractions and 530 restaurants
Venice makes you a believer in fairy tales. Cars are banned, so the only way to get around the 1,500-year-old city is by foot or by water.

  • Resident population: 117,644 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, hiking, water sports
  • 32,799 TripAdvisor reviews of 985 accommodations, 276 attractions and 533 restaurants
If watching the sunrise from atop a 10,000-foot volcano, swimming under waterfalls, hiking through craters and luxuriating on white-, red- and even black-sand beaches sounds like paradise, then Maui awaits.
