Maratea, for me, was one of those wonderful little finds in Italy. It is very small and quaint. There is only one little piazza with a few stores and restaurants and really not much to do except...more

Maratea is not 2.5 hours from Rome, but a gruelling 8.5 hours drive on white-knuckle roads, narrow mountain passes and driving conditions that shatter the nerves and keep you on high alert the whole...more
