Visiting Bordighera, Italy

Known as the City of Palms, scenic seaside Bordighera is the proud supplier of fronds to the Vatican every Palm Sunday. Just a few miles from the borders of both Monaco and France, floral Bordighera has been a favorite resort destination for British visitors since the 19th century, when Queen Victoria herself was a guest. The town has many lovely gardens (like Pallanca and Winter), an archaeological museum (the Bicknell) and a lovely old town, but most come for the beach and seafront promenade.

We had a fine lunch here, on the patio. The couple at the next table ate lunch and then took their wine down to one of the tables right on the beach. He went for a swim while she sunbathed topless. ...more

Truly, this is not a restaurant. I could call it a wine bar, a beach bistro even though it is not directly on the beach. Still, it is a wonderful place that I patronized several times. Food is...more
