Destinations of the Day
Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Resident population: 39,408 (est.)
  • Major features: The Boardwalk, casinos, beaches
  • 7,077 TripAdvisor reviews of 72 accommodations, 39 attractions and 282 restaurants
It's the East Coast's answer to Las Vegas. Atlantic City's casinos draw tourists by the car- and bus-load, but even if your main objective is to play some blackjack, you'll want to save time for sightseeing.
Honolulu, Hawaii
  • Resident population: 374,676 Annual visitors: 1,733,000 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, surfing, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head
  • 32,721 TripAdvisor reviews of 406 accommodations, 208 attractions and 1,129 restaurants
If you visit Honolulu simply for the wide Pacific beaches, the striking views of Ko'olau's pali (cliffs) and the laid-back "aloha" feeling, you'll be missing out on much this city has to offer.
Bali, Indonesia
  • Resident population: 3,150,000 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, water sports, spas, temples
  • 24,429 TripAdvisor reviews of 1,159 accommodations, 153 attractions and 393 restaurants
The Indonesian island of Bali is a favorite destination for both adventurers and those in need of a little relaxation. The waters off the coast of Bali's white beaches are an ideal spot for diving, while the dense jungles, teeming with monkeys and hidden stone temples, call out for exploration.
Paphos, Cyprus
  • Resident population: 27,000 (est.)
  • Major features: historic buildings, beaches
  • 9,287 TripAdvisor reviews of 377 accommodations, 21 attractions and 79 restaurants
Paphos, the capital of western Cyprus, has some serious historical clout. Site of the vast fourth-century BC Tombs of the Kings, set high on a cliff above the sparkling sea, as well as a dramatic Byzantine castle and fine mosaics, it's also known as the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite.
  • Resident population: 183,126 (est.)
  • Major features: beaches, nightlife, boating, shopping
  • 14,226 TripAdvisor reviews of 215 accommodations, 92 attractions and 602 restaurants
This canal-laced city is a far cry from its spring break party image of the past. Following renovation and renewal, upscale stores and restaurants have replaced fast-food stands and T-shirt shops.
