Established in 1947, Everglades National Park is the home of American crocodiles, leatherback turtles, Florida panthers and a lot of mosquitoes. To get up close and really personal with the endangered creatures inhabiting this watery 40-mile-wide wonderland, explore by canoe. Wilderness Waterway, a 100-mile marked inside water route through creeks, rivers and bays, winds from the Gulf of Mexico to Flamingo on Florida Bay. For an easier ride, hop on an airboat on the park's outskirts.
