　インターネット予約をしていたのですが、一日間違って早く行きました。料理は野菜中心で頼んでいましたが、「できるかどうかわからないが、できるだけ努力します」ということでした。「私たちは日ごろは肉・魚を食べていません」と言いましたら、ご希望に添えるかどうかわかりませんが、板さんに伝えますとのことでした。 　夕食時、出た料理はすべて野菜で、素晴らしく美味しく、材料も新鮮で満足しました。脱帽です。 女将さんは日本語ぺらぺらの韓国人で今のご主人がJCで韓国訪問した際の通訳で、ひと目惚れしたという美人です。日本の伝統を学ぶため、結婚して熊本大学二入学し、文化人類学を学んだ人で、普通の日本人より日本のことはよく知っているようです。古い旅館を１００年は維持していきたいという情熱をもった方でした。 more

さすが神々が住む九州。歴史の重みがある。 　８００年頃創建とされる青井阿蘇神社は、どっしりした構えの建物ながら繊細な模様が施されている。目立たないひっそりとした町にもに国宝があることに驚いた。 　人吉城は球磨川ほとりにある山城。形は残っていないけれど石垣にそのなごりがある。人吉城の石垣はとても綺麗だ。どんなお城の姿だったのだろうか。戦国時代への興味は尽きない。 　人吉には隠れ念仏の里というのもある。一向宗のの信者が人吉藩の厳しい取り締まりに会いながら、なおも信仰心を失わなかった証が残されている。隠れキリシタンといい九州にはすごい歴史がある。 　駅前にかわいらしいからくり時計がある。あまりにもかわいらしすぎて、この町の歴史とのギャップに少し違和感があったが、これも観光名所になっていた。人吉城をイメージしたお城から殿様が城下町を見物するため窓から顔を出す。とても楽しいからくり時計です。 more
