Lions, cheetahs and leopards roam nearly 1000 miles of grassland, savannah and bush, sharing one of the world's most wildlife-rich regions with zebras, hippos, giraffes, buffalos and elephants. In July and August millions of wildebeest trundle north during their annual migration. Top spots for getting close to nature include Musiara Swamp, Mara River, Mara Triangle and Olypunyata Swamp. Masai Mara is 270 miles from Nairobi. Within the park visitors must travel by official safari vehicle or hire their own.
