Long absorbed by Cairo's sprawl, Giza is best known for the colossal, 500-foot tall Great Pyramid of Cheops and the mysterious, 240-foot long Great Sphinx. The Pyramids of Giza, burial places for pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, are the prime draw for this area. Nightclubs, restaurants and stores have sprung up in Giza to cater to the influx of tourists. The Grand Museum of Egypt is due to be completed in 2010. Catch a cab or air-conditioned bus to Giza and walk around the wonders once there.
