Stayed 17 - 29 August 2007
Took a taxi from the airport - approx 30 euros (inc baggage)
Check in was efficient and although our room (a studio) was not one of the re-furbished room, it was large, clean and very spacious.
We had the usual set up for a Club Sunterra Resort - fridge freezer, satelite TV & DVD player, large balcony with table and chairs, comfortable beds, clock radio, ceiling fan and plenty of storage space.
Our friends had a 2 bed unit which had recently been completely re-furbished and was amazing. With air-con, all new furnishings, a downstairs loo, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric juicer, coffee maker, sandwich toaster, flat screen TV & DVD player, as well as a 2nd TV in the master bedroom. You can imagine where we spent most of our time !
The resort itself is on several levels with many steps - so not suitable for someone with walking difficulties - the pool area is small (which would be my only complaint) and sunbeds are limited because of this. The on-site bar restaurant was excellent (Whites Bar) with a great selection of meals, as well as a take away service.
A small beach lies in front of the property down some steps and looks across to a larger beach round the bay. The stunning views are only marred slightly by the larger Aguamarina hotel at the opposite side. On the beach you will find sunbeds for hire - approx. 5 euros per day. The only down side to the cove was the small jellyfish. Our party got several stings, but nothing too serious. The sea seemed to wash them into the bay, but they couldn't get out.
The rest of the resort is again reached by several steps to the restaurants and bars. Most of the restaurants had great views across the bay and a good choice of meals - including basic childrens meals from a couple of euros each.
During our stay we also hired a car for 5 days. This is best done prior to arrival, especially in peak times, as we heard several holiday makers saying it was difficult to get hold of a rental. We explored the whole island, eating out in Fornells and Cala'n Bosch, as well as Gala Galdana and Cala'n Porter.
We would definately return again - just enough to do without being in your face and White Sands was a joy.
Here's to the next time !
