“Good food and good fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2010

The hostel in Annascaul was a great place to have a fun night. The entertainment at the pub next door was worth the visit, and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay here again. I appreciated the ensuite room.

I stayed in Annascual for one night, it was my day off and I just wanted to relax.
I have definitely choosen the right place. The hostel is clean and the staff is
friendly (especially Jason, the cook ;)). If you want to have a quiet evening you can relax
by the fire in the common room or in one of the pubs. The hostel itself has got a pub where you can sing karaoke sometimes. All in all it was a great time and the countrysite is one of the most beautiful places in Ireland.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2009

I stayed here for one night as part of a tour group, and had I not been with such nice people I probably would have been a lot more disappointed with the facilities. The hostel itself is old, and needs work doing to it. Paddywagon have spent a lot of money painting the building, but nothing on the interior of the hostel. For example, the window in our room was broken, and the heater had fallen off of the wall. Oh, and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. We were given a heater to use with an extension cord, but were warned not to touch the base of the extension lead, as there were live wires exposed! At the time we just laughed it off, but had I paid more money to stay, I would have been disappointed.

Kitchen facilities are okay, as are the bathrooms, although they are a bit limited. Avoid if you can, and if you have to stay - don't stay in room 1!

Stayed at Paddy's Palace in Annascaul near Dingle as part of a 6 day Paddy Wagon Tour. I realize that it was a "Budget Tour", however, the conditions in the hostel were sub standard. Black mold covered the entire ceiling of our 6 bed dorm which meant that people sleeping on the top bunks were breathing in must for the whole night. The kitchen was also quite dirty. This place would NOT pass a health and safety inspection. It was very disappointing especially considering Paddy Wagon tours promotes this hostel as one of the best on the tour.

  • Liked — The hills around it were beautiful
  • Disliked — The moldy ceilings were a health hazard!
