This is a lovely cafe, the food is very very good, and staff very friendly, and very fresh all home cooking.

“Go for the pottery not for the food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We took a stop off on Slea head as it was nearing lunch and we were feeling a bit peckish. I was very disappointed with the food i got. Now i have to admit i did not complain, mainly because i felt it probably would not do any good as the person behind the counter didn't seem the approachable type. I ordered organic smoked salmon open sandwich at over €10, i was smarting at the price. When it arrived it was just two bits of salmon on brown bread. The salmon was good but the bread was stale and there is no excuse whatsoever for that. I ate what i could as i was hungry and left. In fairness my wife got the same without the bread and was charged less, mind you i should have been charged less also! I spoke with some locals where we were staying and it seem that the local reputation of this restaurant is not good. I'll not be back mainly because the quality of the food is poor, restaurant staff not the friendliest, and it is ridiculously expensive for what you get. By the way while we were there somebody came in for a take away tea and she was charged €2...in a paper cup!

Caife M, Manager at Louis Mulcahy Pottery Cafe, responded to this review, January 22, 2013
Dear Martin,
We’re really disappointed to read about your experience at the café. We bake all our breads and cakes on the premises, and are really proud of the fact that everything we serve is freshly made in the café, or locally produced. We get a lot of repeat custom from locals, and many guesthouses and hotels in Dingle recommend the food here to their customers. The smoked salmon we serve on our open sandwiches is organic and locally smoked, which means it is more expensive than non-organic smoked salmon, but we think it’s worth it. We also serve a selection of panini, home-made soups and home-made cakes which are much cheaper.
We would have been delighted to replace the dish with another of your choice if you’d let the person serving you on the day know you were unhappy. If you are in the area again maybe you’d drop in and let us treat you to something else on the menu.

Lovely Cafe-great soup and scones. We wandered around the pottery store and found some beautiful pieces.
