“Hard to find, but well worth the effort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Local people told us of this little gem, hidden and unmarked or advertised from the road. Leaving the road at Lores-Simes, about 100 yards from the road is a small sign on the left, advertising the walking trail for the Ruta de los Molinos. There is a small gravelled parking area. Park here, and follow the path, and after 50 yards you will fall over a bridge, mill stream and old white-washed fully restored water mill. Seating inside is minimal, and outside, in mid September, was cool-ish. They close in winter.

However, the service was good, and the range of tapas excellent, and cheaper than elsewhere. We had house wine, of which the white was excellent. The red wine was rather like a thin Beaujolais, drunk out of a bowl, and I drank a whole bottle without any sensation of alcohol at all! Apparently a speciality of the area!

The Mill tilted square cube, also called two-raft stones, was built by Manuel Fernandez in the last quarter of the twentieth century, and underwent an expansion because the north face was narrower than the south facade.

It has a good terrace overlooking the river, and is right next to an area dedicated to relaxation and leisure with well maintained grass, wooden tables and showers. In summer you can apparently swim in the river, as it is not very deep.

The ambience is wonderful, and the food equally so. We loved the whole experience.
