This winery/restaurant is only a few minutes drive from home. We'd been looking to come here for sometime, and I was looking forward to it. I'd expected some pretty big things. We went on a Friday evening, which is apparently when they do away with their regular menu, and have a pizza and cheese board evening instead. Okay, I'll play the game, we sat down at the pretty cool rustic table inside, next to a nice cozy potbelly fire.
We ordered a bottle of their 2011 chardonney (not sure if I spelt it right, yes I'm a novice with wines...) it seemed to taste pretty good. A lot of young girls were doing the brunt of the waitress work. There was a woman closer to our age who was excellent, however, the young ones seemed to be pretty short on skill. (I feel like one of those grumpy old men complaining about the young whipper-snappers of today...!!) We ordered a medley-starter to share, as well as our pizza mains and desserts for later. Dissapointingly, the pizzas and the starter arrived at the same time - we did start to feel rushed at this point. The starter was good, the pizzas were just okay, and I've made plenty of these myself a lot better - I think they may have used pita bread for the bases, which is a helluva short cut for a restaurant.
No sooner had we finished our pizzas, then desert arrived...dammit, I asked for these to be a 20min wait so we could finish our wine... My wife had the chocolate brownie - pretty good - and I had the Kapiti blue cheese - fantastic. Serving sizes of these were very good.
Finished with coffee, walked out paying a reasonable rate, but a little deflated - maybe I'm just a food snob now? Might be a good place for those long boozy lunches rather than a couple out for a meal.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, we always appreciate hearing our customer’s thoughts. I’m sorry to hear that you felt you had a bad experience at Clearview. With our Friendly Fridays we strive for a different experience than our every day a la carte lunch service. The environment is casual and relaxed with the service less formal than during the day, with live music to enjoy – all with the goal of providing a venue to sit back and relax after a long week.

That your pizzas and starter arrived at the same time is a reflection of the dining style we aim for with Friendly Fridays; designed for sharing with friends and grazing over a long evening of entertainment. We apologise that you felt rushed, as that was certainly not our intention; our focus is to provide a long, relaxed dining experience as opposed to a quick table turnover.
The lack of delay in serving your dessert was, however, due to the server and we apologise for this.
As to your comments regarding the quality of the pizzas, this is the first time we have ever had such a complaint about them; they are well loved by visitors and locals alike. Our dedicated chefs at Clearview do their utmost to provide fresh, delicious food using local and seasonal produce. They do not, nor have they ever used pita breads as bases for the pizzas. The dough is freshly made and then rolled by hand to order.
We understand that our Friendly Fridays are not for everyone, and it is unfortunate that it doesn’t seem to be for your tastes. You would be most welcome to try us out for a ‘long boozy lunch’, as the quieter, more structured atmosphere would perhaps suit you better.
