We have eaten at Ernest and Fidel many many times. Today was pretty much the last straw. First we asked for a wine list. No Prosecco was on the list, though we have had many bottles of Prosecco in the past. We asked the waitress and she said of course they had Prosecco. We ordered a bottle. She came back and said that "all of our bottles of Prosecco are open. We don't have any bottles too sell." Really? Several bottles are open? Why would you open more than one bottle at a time? Then we asked for a bottle of the Provencal rose--the $19 bottle, not the $40 bottle. The waitress brought a bottle. We asked, are you sure this is the one we ordered. "Well, yes, I think so, unless it isn't. Let me check." Oh, sorry, we don't have the $19 bottle. "Well, the problem is, he's changed the wine list so much.....". Finally we just ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. Jees.....Then the lunch. In the past we've ordered the eggs benedict on an arepa instead of a bagle(really? on a bagle?). We've had that before (my husand is gluten alergic, so this was a plus). They said okay, but it was truly mediocre (not like the first time when it was absolutely delicious). All in all, a C minus at best. Too bad, we've really loved this place in the past.
