“A place worth seeing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We visited the place twice – once for Christmas and once in autumn. A place worth seeing! Lavanda B&B is a small piece of heaven...
The rooms are beyond beautiful, the service makes you feel important,
the food is an art... You won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I just stayed at Lavanda for a long weekend, and absolutely loved it. The house is fantastic: purpose-built two years ago, it is a remarkable combination of traditional Bulgarian architecture with the most modern amenities. It offers not only spacious and well-appointed rooms but also many comfortable communal areas (our favourite were lounge chairs in the front yard, from which you can enjoy amazing sunset views). And the location is great - nestled in a remote, serene and picturesque village in the beautiful Rodopi mountains, it is great for hiking and mountain biking, exploring local history, or just "disconnecting from it all". But what really sets Lavanda apart is the quality of the service. The owners - Boiko and Silvana - truly have a passion for hospitality and it shows: whether in anticipating the needs of their guests in the way the home has been designed and equipped, or cooking and serving delicious meals (make sure to try the mekitsi with Silvana's own strawberry and Cointreau jam), or making knowledgeable and thoughtful recommendations on local activities and attractions, or being flexible and willing to work around your schedule, or just catering for the unexpected (in our case, Boiko bringing us some sunscreen when he drove down from Sofia - as we'd left ours behind, and there are no pharmacies in Kovachevitsa). We've lived in and visited over 20 countries, and Lavanda is hands-down one of the best B&B experiences we've ever had. Make sure to visit, we're pretty sure you will love it too.

Lavanda B&B is a very special place in one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountain regions. The house is amazing - it was build from scratch in a traditionally typical, but quite stylish and cosy manner. It really gives you that unique combination of old Bulgarian architecture and modern commodity - rooms, beds, the yard, they're just everything you need.

You can go with kids as we did - they have plenty of things to do out there; pristine environment, a small river, green grass all around. The village Lavanda is located in (it's called Kovachevitsa) is cultural heritage and it's also a little bit mystical as Bulgarian mountains naturally are.

The hosts in Lavanda prepare wonderful food, again typical ingredients but fusion and modern recipes. They will treat you with home-made food and drinks.

To cut the long story short - impeccable service (owners speak languages), style, tradition, gourmet and spiritual retreat in one.

We have stayed at Lavanda in Sept 2011. The house is great and the owners extremely hospitable, preparing all the food with excellent quality by themselves. The village of Kovachevitsa is worth visiting as well as the surrounding mountains. Greek seaside is a couple of hours away too. Worth visiting if you are a couple or a larger company. Simply excellent.

Silvana is a wonderful hostess and the house is beautiful. She also cooks incredible meals and I wish I could live there all the time. Wherever you are in Bulgaria, you would be wise to go to Lavanda for at least a couple of nights.
