“Great place for nature lovers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Our family of two adults and two kids stayed in the wedding suite at the Wind for 2 nights in April 2013 as a part of our travel in India.
The service at this hotel should receive 6 stars! The owner will do anything to make your wishes come true, suggest places that you might find interesting and make arrangement for your travel adventures. He is well connected and knows whom to contact to make things happen. In a snap, a beautiful hike with a local guide in the surrounding mountains were arranged, and we went on a jeep safari to the worlds highest tea plantation. We wanted to stay longer, but everything was booked. The owner helped us make arrangement to another hotel and even took my husband to check out a room on a nearby hotel.
The view from this hotel is amazing, so is the quality of the food in the restaurant. The room we stayed in was clean and had an amazing view. The pull-out guest bed not so comfortable, which the owner wanted to address when we told him.
The property has some steep steps/stairs which could be a problem for people with disabilities.

We can highly recommend this place for people that enjoy great food, the beauty of nature and are eager for adventures.

We visited this hotel in around June 11th 2013 and reached at around 7pm. it was raining and very dark and we just checked in, ate and slept. Next morning when i got up my eyes met the perfect visual one can have..Welcome to "The Wind". nature's own photo studio....

The masala chai was just perfect for the morning and the B'fast added to the feel...We went around munnar but longed for returning back to the hotel....Hot and tasty food....cosy and comfortable cottages and "the misty wind"....
i was yet to meet the icing on the cake....Mr. Nobi the owner.... Being a north indian, we felt the taste of the food little bit different....News went to his years and we were in for a surprise at the dinner....The food in all its spicy avatar..the north indian way.......

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Go for Honeymoon Cottages.....

Hi, I stayed here for 4 nights June 2013 and wanted to share my review.

Reservation: I choose this place looking at the great reviews in Tripadvisor. I called up the wind one fine day and the person answered my phone was Noby. He clearly explained me about the property as well sent me the tariff asking for a very reasonable advance. I did make the payment via online and the next day Noby sent me a note with acknowledgement. The booking is done and we are all set.

Road to The Wind : I drove with my family from Chennai and tagged with my brother and family on his Fortuner. This is a very scenic beautiful drive and one should never miss this. We reached Munnar and plunged into a forest like environment that would lead you to Chinnakal. Noby was always available over phone to guide you. The road was great and you can definitely drive yourself. Awesome drive came to almost a finish and there were lots of boards and directions that were installed by The Wind which helped us reach the property with no difficulty. Finally we reached and ITS A AWESOME PLACE...I LUV IT LUV IT & LUV IT.

On Reaching: We had a few smiling faces welcoming us with a welcome drink, we were taken a trip around the property and it was awesome. Here was a surprise wherein i came to know NOBY was not just a Manager but also the OWNER. A very down to earth person and enjoyed talking to him. Thank you for all your help NOBY. There are a few more people Suresh - Front Desk, and room service people who are always available and will be available within 5 minutes of calling them for any help. Great Job Guys.

Property: Very new about 5 months old, fantastically maintained. A room has a queen bed as well a Sofa cum bed. A family of 2 adults + 2 Children can easily & happily stay. The beds are off great quality, the TV has satellite connection, and every room has valley view. You will love sipping a cup of tea in the morning looking at this valley that's loaded with mist. Its just a very lovable experience. The room has enough power outlets to charge your gadgets, good lighting(many) that shall give you good ecosystem. One side of the room has no wall and is built with glass doors which give you the complete valley view straight from your bed. (Room No 101 definitely). The Bath Room and Toilets are equipped with latest and good branded units. The shower you will love :), it has a good dinning hall with again valley view, play ground (small) for Children and overall such a beautiful place and great value to the money.

Room Service: You will never have a complaint. When we stayed all rooms were occupied still you will get what you wanted in about 5-10 minutes. They take care of you as though you are the owner of the property.

Food: This is the best of all. The 2 cheff's are genius :) You have a wide range of alacarte menu and you will find everything and more than that available. We did never repeat the dish even after 4 days. Also when you need food you just need to call them and order, one day we went for a day trip and at 4 we decided to eat lunch, we were around 70kms away and we called Suresh placed our order and when we landed the food was ready to eat.. that's the service you will get. The food is great, great and great. The cost for the food is slightly on a higher side but i think its worth for a place like this as well the wide range of variety they cook for your on order.

Overall Cost : Value for Money and you will not be exploited.

The place has no internet wireless facility. Noby you may have to provide this facility which will help customers like me very much as we cant be completely off from official work.

Cell Phone : Vodafone works great, BSNL works well, Aircel is good too. No 3G works here, Vodafone 2G on iPad and Datacard helped me to manage 4 days.

Sight seeing : You have a dozen of places which can keep you busy for 2-3 days, if you have your own car you will enjoy driving to these places. Please do have a Map handy with you.

Overall a very good place, people and i enjoyed every minute i had been there. Thanks to NOBY & TEAM and i had to leave this place with all my memories still running on my mind. I will definitely go here once more very soon.

I hope you liked this review and found useful.

The destination was really awesome and we enjoyed a lot and special about this place is it’s a big tea plantation. Lots of tourist visit this place. As we walk past the green tea gardens and click pictures with an occasional waterfall amidst the mountains, you realize that the trip is definitely not enough! You need to come back again!
