“Good base in Boca Chica”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

I liked the hotel europa, for 45$ had a room with two big double beds and a balcony overlooking the coast. Noisy outside at night, but you get used to that. Room safe and excellent satellite tv
For cooked breakfast need to coff up 70 pesos. Two brothers running the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Opposite hotel europa is the Piano bar where all the chicas hangout looking for business and not a problem to take guests back to the Hotel Europa once they signed in. I think this is its main business stream. Be careful in Boca chica, full of prostitutes who are more interested in robbing you and backed up by pimps and hustlers. But a nice hotel all the same
Plenty of rooms available, dont need to try and reserve in advance, boca chica never gets that busy with tourists

Room Tip: If you want to meet chicas, talk to the brothers who run the hotel, avoid the streetwalkers

We did not bother quality and just took the place to sleep one night, so we rather looked at price and not quality. To overnight it's OK, but do not expect anything more ! Service stinks !!!!!!! But then again what do expect for that price ?
I still will recommend it if you just want a cheap and good night sleep .

i stayed at europa with a friend for 50.00/night with a balcony oceanview and two queen beds. everybody was friendly from the maids to the guys at the front desk. location twenty steps to the beach-- right in the heart of town. whatever we needed the front desk always were helpful. breakfast was fine and inexpensive compared to some of the places in town very, very clean place. they id's the girls i was with and there was no charge. they also told us about other seashore resorts to visit in dominican. boca chica is a cheap getaway i would recommend for single guys who are street wise. yea its a little dirty, "seedy people"- no they just don't have a lot of money. i saw no crime or fights anywhere the girls "chicas" are extremely friendly and reasonable. goin' back in june

I booked this hotel for a dive trip with several freinds in mid-March '09. I read the average reviews and figured for our purpose, this should be just fine. We werent looking for anything fancy, just a place to base out of for our diving (no wife or kids with us). I read in the 'Rough Guide' for DR, that this hotel was the Nioest hotel in Boca Chica'. Boy was that a mistake. Well, after checking in, we walked down the beach and found the hotel Zapatta, next to our dive boat. This hotel ($65 pn vs $45) was soooo much nicer. We stayed only one night in Europa and moved to Zappata. This turned out to be a wise move. First off, the rooms: Large and airy looked like they have not been changed since the mid '70's. Sparce with dirty windows and large stains on the ceilings. Clean enough, the shower in the bathroom barely let out any water. That night it rained, and the hallways were filled with puddles. My room was on the 4th floor (stairs only). Soon after checking in (my rental car parked in front), the lobby called and insisted I come down stairs to talk to someone their regarding my car. They would not explain over the phone and I had to walk downstairs and speak to someone (who never identified themselves and spoke little english). After they asked me if I had been driving my car (I was), they said they mistook me for someone else. Not sure what any of this was about but it was annoying.

This hotel is not only guest freindly, but it located directly around the corner from the towns main 'disco' filled with professional workers. The hotel does not check id's of guests and will let anyone up to your room. I was awoken at 3am by someone I did not want to see. There is not even a peephole at the door to see who is there.

Ok, the hotel is cheap and I have seen worse, but since there is better options I would pass. The next day I checked into the Zappata. This hotel is right on the beach (they have free beach chairs which is great) and super clean. The breakfast is good (eggs, ham, bread and coffee) and service was excellent. The front door is always locked and there is a doorman on top of that at night. They are also guest freindly, but the guest must have an ID. This is a good thing as a guest with no ID is probably alot of trouble. My room for $65 inlcuded a nice veranda facing the beach. Although only a 5min walk from the Europa, the beachfront here is much nicer.

The Rough Guides must change their review of Europa, it is way way off.

Well if you want beautiful white sand beaches, small and quaint this is nice. Its only a 10 min taxi ride from the airport in Santa Domingo. (bargin with the taxi's) We stayed at the Hotel Europa, $25 with free breakfast and internet in the lobby. Its right downtown. Stay on the south side of hotel facing the beach. The north side is above the disco. They let you bring in the "guests" from town with ID. No problem. The town is small and alittle rough. Remember its a 3rd world area. No big resorts in this town.. Lots of nice local cute hotels, most $25-35 a night. They close the main street to traffic at night, so go sit out and have a cup of great coffee and watch the action. Its not really a couples area, mostly I would recommend only men to go here. wink! Expect to have 10-20 hoties hitting on you at anytime of the day and of couse the night. Read more reviews of the nightlife. We will be back every yr.

I have stayed at this Hotel Europa many times in the past two years. It was a wonderful place to stay. It was clean and relatively inexpensive.
The former management is gone. Prices are higher. It is still clean.
However, I was robbed of my funds from my hotel room security box. The present management was not very concerned about this.

Went to Hotel Europa in 2002. Very clean, great maid service. A little noisy (I had a street side room) but it is to be expected this hotel is on the main drag Duarte where all the night life takes place. the staff are honnest, two weeks with nothing missing. Bertrand is a great source of information as he knows all the good and bad restaurants around. If you ask at the front counter Doodoo will supply you with a free towell for the beach, the only caution I have about this place is it has four floors and no elevator. Breakfast is good and plentiful. Hotel Europa is great for couples and singles but I would not recommend for family with kids as you are to close to the night life and guests are permitted...Don't forget a doggy chew toy, Octavio will love you for it. Hotel Europa, best buy for your money in BocaChica
