“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Stayed for 1 night , booked 2 rooms on a dinner bed and breakfast deal can't fault it both rooms were large comfortable and clean. Dinner was excellent and bar prices reasonable , Breakfast freshly cooked to order and a good choice from a cold buffet. If I had to pick a fault it would be a lack of outdoor seating we were there on one of the hottest days of the year and all the outdoor tables and chairs were in use, so had to have pre-dinner drinks in a hot bar area. This is real gem I will definitely return.

Stayed here for one night and had an excellent stay. The room was only £50 and was modern and large overlooking the courtyard and the hotel grounds and village were very nice. All in all it was a very relaxing weekend break in a great location. My only minor criticism was the bar was basically a few sofas next to the reception but the staff were friendly and helpful and there was a nice pub nearby.

Room Tip: Highly recommend going to Stowe gardens...stunning on a sunny day

We stayed for one night as part of a birthday treat. When we checked in, there was no record of our request for a blow-up bed in the room for my son. However, the receptionist was very helpful and gave him a single room next to ours free of charge.

We had a large room in the main hotel which was very nice and overlooked the entrance/courtyard below. Unfortunately we were kept awake for most of the night by other drunken guests returning from their nights out. A group of women who decided to sit directly beneath our window at 1am, scraping the metal chairs across the concrete patio and talking for ages, a bunch of men on a golfing weekend who were shouting and urinating in the little pond opposite, someone wandering around at 3am on his mobile phone trying to get alcohol - you get the idea. It had been a really hot day so we were faced with either closing the window and roasting, or leaving it open and listening to all this. I realise this is not something the hotel can really do much about but it did spoil the weekend. We got up the next morning feeling like we hadn't had a night's sleep.

Whilst clean, most of the public rooms did feel a bit dated and overall the hotel would probably benefit from having some money spent on it.

Dinner was good and again the staff were very helpful although we did have to ask for bread rolls (they seemed to have forgotten us) and the wine list. We asked for some black pepper and were told that they had run out of it!

Breakfast was ok but we arrived towards the end of the service (groggy from being awake most of the night) and found they had run out of a number of the hot items.

Overall, despite the friendly and helpful staff, I'd say it was nothing really special and would probably look elsewhere if I was staying in the area again.

Just stayed 1 night but found this to be a lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Only blip was noise levels when extremely noisy guests returned at 3am were shouting and screaming for some time - hotel can't legislate for this I guess but because were in a block of rooms away from the main hotel it felt like this went unnoticed. Breakfast was a comprehensive buffet style breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor don't have security windows so we were loathed to open the window at night...

Only a very quick visit but the hotel itself was good and the room was great. Id recommend it. I would say if your a light sleeper which im not luckily that you request a room away from the road.

We chose this hotel on the way back from a business trip for its location given that we wanted to visit Woburn Abbey and it could not have worked out better. It is close to the M1 but not too close for it to affect a nice peaceful stay in a lovely village very close to Woburn. We also like the wee dram left in the bedroom which we thought was sherry by looking at it but on tasting, it was brandy - my favourite, so top marks there. We did not try the restaurant in the evening as from a previous review, it was mentioned there was a nice pub almost across the road and we can confirm the food, ambience and prices were all very good. The hotel bedroom was very nice, bed comfortable and although by the time we had breakfast in the morning, the buffet was somewhat depleted due to there being a residential course or meeting, nothing was too much trouble to obtain after asking and the cooked breakfast was nice and tasty. As there is so much to see in the area, we will certainly be staying again. I need to add that all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We requested a room in the main complex and whilst we did not have a great view out of the window...

I use this hotel regularly for business trips. For the price you get an excellent room, great service and good food (particularly breakfast). A nice touch is that they leave a small dram in each room. If I was being picky the rooms could do with a little money being spent, as I have not yet had a room that didn't have a significant fault, eg shower control not working. Nonetheless the beds are comfortable and the rooms cool, with proper windows that open. Next door is a very good oriental restaurant (does everything from Thai, through Chinese to Indian). Well placed for Woburn etc.

Room Tip: THe ones in the old part of teh hotel have more character but are a bit of a lottery for noise, etc
