If you are busy birding, hiking, etc and just want a comfortable, safe, room with private bathroom to sleep, this is your place. The restaurant is very good and inexpensive. No hot water in shower.
We were up at 6 and breakfast was ready. Then we went birding all day until 6pm. Dinner was ready within the hour.

My husband and i hve just had 4 nights at hotel santa fe and found it brilliant. the rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable > we had 2 double beds in our room and only 27.50 dollars a night. The food is brilliant, $6 to $8 for a filling main dish, and breakfast $2 to $3. You sit overlooking the valley and watch the sun set. Friendly family running it too. We were very sad to leave. Lovely huge TV room with table and sofas and book exchange, magazines etc. Bar with $1 beers open till 10 too. some english channels on the Tv! IS about 150 yards from the supermarket and a new bar -the blue iguana - set up by a texan ex pat. More stunning views from here and great view.

Room Tip: we had room 2 which was huge with 2 double beds and 2 fans

My girlfriend and I have stayed three nights in Hotel Santa Fe, Veraguas, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The rooms are basic but very clean. The beds in our room were big and comfortable. However, the best part of this hotel is the people who work there. Especially Luis and Edgar know every stone in the area. They told us places to go where we would alone never have come to. We also enjoyed the Panamanian food in the Hotels Restaurant very much so that we were eating there every day since it also has reasonable prices. The common room with sofas and TV and the bar is also very comfortable and a great opportunity to meet other travelers. We can strongly recommend this place.

Greg was very helpful, and always available to answer questions. Rooms are basic, but adequate. Very good restaurant! And they do have wi-fi! Friendly, easy-going place.

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Like other reviewers stated, it does not have hot water but after a hot day in the sun, the cool shower feels very refreshing. Greg and his partner are great hosts and made sure everything went well for us. This is not a luxury hotel but the price is great and the food is excellent. Because the rooms are small, it kind of forces the guests to intermingle with others on the patio, which is a nice way to meet others. We would definitely stay there again!

The town of Santa Fe and the two nights I spent at the Hotel Santa Fe were highlights of my recent trip to Panama. The Hotel Santa Fe is not for everyone. If hot water and wi-fi are on your absolute must-have list and you can’t get along without them, you will not be happy here. But if you are willing to trade a few of the comforts of home for a taste of a simpler life, I think you will find it a worthwhile experience. The view from the porch was beautiful- a place I wish I could have spent more time sitting, and there are lots of wonderful hikes in the area. The rooms were very basic but comfortable. There’s no hot water, but when you come back hot and sweaty after a long hike, that isn’t so bad. Les was very friendly and helpful, and brought us fresh squeezed grapefruit juice when we came back from our hike. The meals were good, and if you stay there, make sure to try the hojaldres at breakfast.

We used this place as a base for the hikes we did in the area with Xplora (Luis Calvo). The rooms are very basic but clean. There is no hot water. The place is situated in an idyllic and picturesque setting (see photo taken at sunrise while I was sat on the porch drinking my cup of coffee). The building is charming and more so its host/proprietor Les, who has been doing a fantastic job in running the place. The food and drinks they make are superb. Their hojaldres are to die for. According to Luis, they are the best ones he has had in Panama. The only thing I would have liked to place to have, being the technology addict that I am, is wifi. If you could leave without it for a few days, you are in a perfect place.

Room Tip: choose rooms that are furthest from the road
