“Lovely experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This b & b was in a superb location - from the terrace you have a great view of the Pont du Gard. The hosts Amanda and Gary were helpful in every way and could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The room was delightful and very clean. The food was fantastic and we not only had breakfast but also a light lunch on arrival - which was huge - and a Table d'hote meal one evening. All was superb. If we are ever that way again - and I hope we are - then we know where we will be staying.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week in early July. It's a wonderful place to stay with nicely fitted out rooms in stunning grounds. The view from the terrace of the surrounding area and the Pont-du-Gard is worth the stay on its own. Having breakfast up there every morning will live long in the memory. Also, the Table d'Haut meal on one night provided the perfect setting for a special occasion for my girlfriend and I. Amanda and Gary are great hosts who make you feel very welcome and are full of great ideas about things to see/do in the surrounding area. Can't wait to go back one day!

If you dont go for the warm welcome, or the well kept grounds, beautiful views, lovely breakfast, gorgeously decorated rooms, friendly dogs that just want to be pet, central location to all attractions and villages, or the charm of owners Amanda and Garry....then you MUST go for the warm homemade bread that you will be served every morning at the breakfast!

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights and wished we could stay longer, Amanda truly goes above and beyond her duties of caring for her guests...from preparing you wonderful breakfasts to reserving tables at hard to get in restaurants to recommending places to see that are off the beaten path.

La Bastide is a jewel in the South of France, my wife and I loved it and will more than likely return not just to see the southern country side but to also visit our new friends Amanda and Garry.

Room Tip: We stayed in Lavende and it was great for 2 people

We have just returned home to the UK after having a wonderful time at La Bastide Sainte Anne. Amanda and Gary welcomed us into their beautiful home ensuring that we had a fantastic time - and we did! The Gourmet meal is a must, as well as the platter, to be enjoyed in a beautiful setting on the terrace. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Amanda and Gary for everyhting.

Our group of 4 couples arrived for a stay of two nights after a long night/day of travel from Minnesota, USA. The beautiful setting, lovely rooms, delicious food and welcoming hosts, Amanda and Gary, allowed us to immediately begin to settle into vacation mode. Tranquil yet close to interesting places. We highly recommend this experience!

If 5 gold stars could be awarded then The Bastide would deserve them. From the moment you pass through the gates you realise you are somewhere set apart. For ambience, comfort, concern for the welfare of guests, for fabulous breakfasts taken on the terrace looking down on the Pont du Gard and hosting skills of Amanda and Gary this place can not be beaten. The table d'hôte offered on certain evenings should not be missed. It's simply magical dining on the glorious terrace and even better if the Pont du Gard light show is scheduled. If you don't want a full blown meal do not miss the gourmet platter for two served on the same terrace with chilled wine. At 28€ this is superb value for money. If salads or simple pizza is more to your liking just place an order at breakfast. The beautiful medieval village of Castellon du Gard is close by and offers a choice of restaurants and a good selection of shops. The surrounding area is rich in history and there is so much to see. Nearest airports are Montpellier and Marseille both about 45 minutes from Castellon. The Bastide sets the gold standard for others to follow. Amanda and Gary are passionate about what they do and it shows in every aspect of the experience.

Room Tip: All four rooms are beautiful. Room 4 is very large and has a seating area that gives on to a large c...

We couldn't ask for better hosts than Amanda and Gary, from the warm welcome to the delicious breakfasts and table d'hote served on their lovely terrace overlooking the Pont du Gard. They even offer casual dinners for those evenings when you don't feel like going out, and laundry service for a reasonable charge per load (a necessity when you're traveling for several weeks like we were). Located a short walk from the walls of the ancient hill town of Castillon-du-Gard, La Bastide Sainte Anne is delightfully removed from all the tourist crowds yet is a short easy drive to many of the towns and sites of Provence. We visited Uzes, Nimes, Avignon, St-Remy-de-Provence, Baux-de-Provence, Pont du Gard, and Castillon-du-Gard during our wonderful, relaxing 5 night stay in mid-May. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the other charming hosts at La Bastide: toddler Scott along with Benji and Mischa (the dogs). For anyone who isn't as fond of dogs and young children as we are, you need not worry. Amanda and Gary are quite concerned about their guests' comfort and allow the dogs to visit only when the guests encourage it, as we all did during our stay. Similarly, our interactions with Scott were due to us seeking him out because we enjoy children and missed our grandkids. While Amanda and Gary graciously shared their family with us, they never allowed them to be an imposition on their guests.
We stayed in the charming Lavande room which is spacious with plenty of storage space for clothes and a large bath with double sink.
We would strongly recommend La Bastide Sainte Anne without reservation to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing, and charming visit to Provence.
