“Wonderful Wedding, Brilliant Luxury Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

Wynyard Hall is without doubt one of The wedding venues in the North East and our wedding here in September was an amazing day. The staff, their experience and their ‘can do’ attitude is what sets them apart. This is not just a wedding review though, we eat here for Sunday Lunch or Afternoon Tea quite regularly and this is always a great experience with excellent food and service. We also stayed here 2 nights for the Wedding and the rooms (of which we had booked 5) were all beautiful.
The location is of course stunning and the Hall itself just wonderful.
Special mention for Kelly our wedding planner, who in all the months leading up to the day was great. Nothing is a problem here, everything is possible.
During the day itself Victoria was a god send, she took control; made sure we were where we should be and took care of the groom and his men beautifully while they waited the bride’s arrival. The day was seamless and as a couple we just let them do what they do and enjoyed our day to the max.
The food and service throughout the day was brilliant, couldn’t fault it, the special diets were taken care of without fuss or prompting and the staff are flexible and react to whatever is needed with ease.
An absolutely wonderful experience for all of us and we would love to do it all again!
If I had to mention any negatives at all we were disappointed that we had booked 2 massages as a treat for the groom and best man but these were cancelled the day before as they had a staff shortage problem and no alternative could be found, but that was just unfortunate.

Room Tip: We used The Duke of Wellington Suite, The Lady Mae Room, 2 country classics and the family room - al...

What a beautifull place.
BUT when we got to our room it was only made up for one, as in 1 set of towels 1 bathrobe and 1 pair of slippers,Note i booked for a couple. I rang reception and told them and within a couple of minutes the housekeeper was at the door with towels etc.
The room it's self was perfect everything you would expect from a 5star hotel.
The bathroom was not what i expected fibreglass bath tub with a shower curtain to pull round.
compared to the Hardwick Hall Hotel just up the road at Sedgefield, huge bathrooms cast iron roll top bath tubs, his and hers wash basins and a very large walk in shower.
When we went down to the bar before dining there was a pianist playing who stopped playing and came over and introduced himself, nice touch on his behalf, he gave us a copy of his reparte and a pen and paper and asked us to choose as many as we liked and he would play them while we ate.I'm not into neuvo cuisine so i'll hold judgement on the restaurant, apart from the breakfast when i ordered my favourite smoked poached hadock with 2 poached eggs, the smoked poached haddock came without any eggs i asked where are the eggs they had forgot to order them so when they turned up i had already eaten the fish.
The huge statley rooms on the ground floor were amazing in decor, furniture and art works and also very comfortable. There is a huge patio area overlooking the lake unfortunatley the weather was pretty glum during our stay.

Room Tip: can't think of one

A great 5 star journey and can recommend Charly for a treatment. A great practioner of all aspects of her job whose wealth of experience shone through due to the quality and standard of the treatment. The service and environment within the hotel was absolutely fantastic and would definitely recommend to anybody.

I only ate here but I can highly recommend it! It is beautifully and elegantly decorated. There service was of a high standard and the food impeccably cooked. We had the 3 course dinner which offered a selection of choices for starter, mains and desert. I had feather of beef which had never had before. It was braised to butter tenderness and very tasty. All in all, well worth a visit and for £31.50 value for money too!
