Initial impression was great. The resort was beautiful but looked completely authentic with it's sprawling design and "mud(?)" houses.
We booked into a beach front room (for 2 - 3 times the price of a standard room) and although the view was great, the room itself was still app. 200metres from the actual sea. So if you're looking to book something right on the water, this isn't it! The room itself left much to be desired, with marks on the walls, smoke alarm hanging from the ceiling by a wire, and to be honest judging from the pictures, the inside was exactly the same as the standard rooms.
One positive point was that the beach front rooms give you access to a private pool - sharing with about the 10 other beach front rooms - but if privacy is what you like then at least you don't have to share with the entire resort.
The resort also has small cars (with drivers) that transport you from one place to another so even if your room is a bit far from the beach - just order a car.
The restaurants were disappointing, although a fair number of choices. None of them hosted genuine local cuisine, and those with international cuisine (Asian, Australian, Italian) had pretty average food.
The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing in it's range of food and during the really busy times, the tables would not be wiped down from the previous diners so you're there eating over other peoples crumbs.
The sea itself was great (but can't really tribute that to the resort) and there was always a lifeguard who was happy to take pictures for the guests and to keep your cameras until you come to claim them. He was also handy with a bottle of water if anyone got the water in their eyes.
At checkout, the concierge said that we had to pay 150JD for the wireless, which was always cutting out in our rooms. Upon check-in, another concierge had confirmed that the wireless was included in the cost, so we decided to argue the charge. After about 25min (which held us up for the airport), it was cleared up. A small matter but for a 5 star resort and the prices they charge, that sort of miscommunication shouldn't happen.
I know I sound slightly picky but the fact of the matter is, we stayed in 3 other 5 star hotels across Jordan, all of which were cheaper and offered a MUCH better room during upgrades, not to mention better restaurants and communication between staff. If you're set on staying here, save your money and just get a standard room and not a beach front one.
Don't bother with the beach front room! You can call for complimentary cars to pick you up and t...
