“Fantastic hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

Kumköy Beach Resort & Spa is a fantastic hotel, worth all 5 stars. The food - breakfast, lunch and dinner buffe - was incredible. The far best I've ever had in any all-inclusive hotel. The Asian restaurant was though quite disappointing. The pool area is very, very good - just be sure to get up early in the morning (around 7 am) to reserve chairs otherwise you won't get any. Large pool with a pool bar. The beach is very nice with lots of sun chairs and a beach bar. Rooms are quite large and comfortable with a free mini bar. Free internet (although a bit slow) in the lobby area. Rather good shopping on the street outside the hotel, otherwise it's only 20 minutes by taxi to the old Side town. To summarize: Top hotel that can be highly recommended.

We travel to Turkey every year and this year we were recommended by the agency the Kumkoy Beach Resort and Spa hotel. So far it was the worse experience in Turkey ever. We bought a room with a side see view, the room which we were given had a direct street view and a tiny glimps at the see in far distance blocked by other buildings. The hotel staff are rather offensive. The food is indeed good, as it is written in other reviews, but not much different from any other hotel in Turkey. This hotel is trying to play the same thing as some other hotels in Turkey - they sell more rooms than they have, and when guests arrive - give you a bad room for the first night or two and then move to a better room. So if you do not mind moving from one room to another couple of times in a raw and in the mean time dealing with rather offensive hotel staff - you may as well choose this hotel.

This is a good quality all-inclusive hotel in Kumköy. Lots of restaurants and
good food. But the best is the fantastic massage. Be sure to get Nuri who
has magic hands. You are as good as new in a few days. It is not the cheapest
massage you can get, but beleive me it is worth it! If you are going to Side oldtown,
busses stops right in front of hotel. 2 turkish lire pr person. About 10 minutes walk into
oldtown from the busstation (where all busses stops). If you do not want to walk at all,
taxi from hotel costs about 10 euro and drive you all the way to oldtown.

Room Tip: Do not choose a partly seaview room.

My partner and I spent our summer vacation here in June 2011. We could not get a seaview room anymore and had to go for a family room. Although the room itself (after some review of the Airco and light in bathroom) was nice and clean - obviously also spacious as a family room - the view was shameful for a 5 star resort. We were looking at an aprox 2 m high beton wall. I am under 2 m so I was not able to see anything else but the wall. Shameful for such a beautiful place. the food was excellent and plenty of choice. The waiters were very friendly and smily - although all inclusive - the swimming pool is just gorgeous and was the main reason we booked this hotel. But the customer service at the reception - unfortunately absolutely insufficient for any hotel - not to talk about a 5 star hotel. the cocktails on the main bars are not good, but inside the hotel disco they are excellent. the hotel disco is a little treassure box anyway - it has a great sound system and looks very good also. Unfortunately the management is not working the disco intelligently, as you could easiy announce to the guest around midnight that there is a fabulous disco in the house, but instead they just let all people disappear at the end of the animation program by the pool. Pity, we went 3 times to the inhouse disco and even though there were not many visitors, still enjoyed it. the warm, fresh towel service at the pool is superb and the pool area with the guys at the pool bar is also absolutely great. So, overall it is a great place to visit and relax, however big minor points are the reception staff, the health club staff (especially when speaking german) and the unforgivable wall in front of the family rooms. I will not be back but I believe the hotel has excellent potential, if the staff would be better trained on what is important for holiday makers.

Room Tip: do not go for the family rooms, but the side sea view rooms

I have visited several of the highest-ranking 5 star all inclusive resorts in Turkey and Egypt earlier. This is my first review - the experience was just so amazing that I wanted to recommend this place to everyone considering it. The room was comfortable and stylish - the whole hotel has the really nice. The staff everywhere was really friendly, and the most amazing part was the food. The selection in all restaurants was more than you could ever ask for, and there definitely was something for everyone. The hotel was not full at the moment of my visit, might be a bit crowded in the high season. But all in all, so far the best resort I have seen. Definitely will go back.

Huge hotel complex with full range of facilities right on the beach. As well as having several pools (including a heated indoor one), the section of beach in front of the hotel has plenty of sunloungers free of charge for hotel guests, together with a beach bar.
Rooms were large and comfortable, but what really stood out for me was the quality and quantity of food on offer. Vast breakfast buffet, and enormous choice for dinner, all beautifully presented - lots of different starters including sushi and countless salads, great range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes, and nearly a hundred different sweets/desserts each evening. On top of that there were 5 small a la carte restaurants (which we never got around to trying), a nice outdoor restaurant for lunch just next to the beach, and little stands for snacks at lunchtime, including typical Turkish pancakes freshly made between the pool and the beach. Add to that the café with its huge range of cakes and pastries, and on some days it really felt like we never stopped eating. Definitely not a good choice for anyone watching their weight!

Only two minor niggles:
- At times the main restaurant could have been better organised; at breakfast some sections of the eating area remained closed off even when the rest of the tables were all occupied and people were milling around with their plates trying to find somewhere to sit.
- Whilst the spa area was lovely, there was a bit of a hard-sell going on. There's a 40-euro package of Turkish bath, massage and facial, which is reasonable value, but they seem to use this initial massage to "diagnose" your need for a subsequent course of therapeutic massages, trying to convince you to sign up for hundreds of euros worth of treatments. Of course you can just say "no", but just something to be aware of.

Other that that I was very impressed with the hotel and would certainly go back if I return to the area.

Lovely rooms , all you need (safe, minibar refilled every day,...)
Some staff members (reception and main restaurant) didn't like their job, I suppose. Some of them were so extremely unfriendly that they don't deserve working in this hotel.
The overall quality of food is fabulous !!!
We went during a school holiday and the hectic noise, the screaming and the running around of little children(in the lobby, restaurants,...) was very disturbing.
If the hotel would make a distinct division for couples and for families then this hotel could be paradise. But in the restaurants their should be more supervision from the hotel staff (e.g. to see to the dress code, ...)
