“nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

kumkoy beach restort and spa was a very nice hotel, very clean and very posh. friendly staff. plenty bars and restaurants on site. rooms were clean and spacious and we got a dressing gown on the bed as we arrived. food was excellent and plenty of choice. pools were very big and the beach was nice. temperature reached 38c so very hot. activities during the day were as youd expect darts, volleyball, waterpolo, pool games, shuffleboard, tennis etc. there were the watersports on the beach banana boat, jet skis, parasailing, ringos. night time entertainment was a bit lack lustre for 5 STAR HOTEL. there was agames room for internet, pool, console games, air hockey and a bowling alley and it had a bar. not many British there,n loads of germans, russians etc, however its the 1st year thomas cook have had it so the english will arrive in droves in the next couple of years. overall very good

Room Tip: ask for a sea view or pool view.

I have just stayed here for 2 weeks with my husband and daughter aged 7 and had a wonderful time
Location- about 10 mins by taxi to Side which will cost you 9 euros of 2 euros pp by dolmus. Outside the hotel are about 40 shops and a couple of bars/restaurants. Then about 10 mins walk is a large mall and more shops.
Room- Had a sea view room and the view was better than a standard room as these look onto the road and shops. However, there is a disco around by the pool every night until 2330-2400, so not too quiet. There is no Iron, but there is a hair dryer and free safe.
Food- Easy to book the a la cartes by a touch screen tele. Never had a problem to book. Opens at 10 onwards, but never booked the until about midday. The food is AMAZING! Probably one of the best all incl for food I have been to. The buffett is also fab with sushi, fresh prawns and wonderful deserts. The patisserie is open from 10am tll 11pm and this is delicious and all free. There is also a waffle stand from 3pm-5pm. Jacket potatoe and Crepe stand 12-3pm which is take away. There are 2 areas for lunch and dinner and one area for breakfast.
Pools- There are 2. One noisey with all the activities and one which was much quieter. A lot of Germans reserved the sun beds, but we used to get down to the pool about 930-10 and always got a bed.
Spa- Quite reasonable. Had a Turkish bath, massage and facial all for 44 euros and they did a child version and charged me 20 euros for my 7 year old.
Kids club- GREAT! My daughter was the only English one there, but they were great with her and she never felt left out. They did a show one night, went on the banana boat and lots more. She cried when she said goodbye to them.
Beach- There is a beach bar here and plenty of beds. But the sand was very hot.
Entertainment- The shows were nothing speacial, but I don't go for the entertainment. I prefered the live music/disco which started at about 2245 which was by the pool bar. There is a disco which opens at 2300 and the drinks are free before midnight. This is the same throughout the hotel, all drinks are chargeable after midnght. There is also a games room where there are pool tables, bowling and more, but you have to pay for this.
Overall- Had a wonderful time. Not many English, about 30 in the whole hotel, but this didn't bother me. The rooms have quite thin walls so you can hear your neighbours quite easily. The staff are lovely.

We've stayed in this hotel for 13 nights. The first night was nice, service was so..so.. we had to make issues with the (always reluctant) reception to get an extra bed-cover. The hotel itself was quite clean, except for the small army of ants that we found near the bed.

About 20% of the personnel was very friendly, the other 80% was nearly always in a bad mood. It was hard to get a smile from them, or to get good service.

The food was good, but it was often cold. This was due to the other guest not bringing up the courtesy to close food trays after use. Often food had turned cold.

After day 2 I caught a bad case of bronchitis. I was brought to the hotel doctor, who sent me to his privacte clinic and asked me to stay there for the night to receive all kinds of treatment. I declined, it was all a setup to get money from unsuspecting tourists. Back at the hotel we complained about the ariconditioner, as my idea was that this was the culprit. When the technician came to replace the filter I noticed it was very dusty, full with dirt and green/blueish looking fungus.

The days after this I started to notice that MANY of the other guests were also coughing, sick or otherwise not in the best of health. This hotel is Health Hazard!

Other things of note:
- The poolwater is not clean
- Other guests tend to be unfriendly, the main population is German, personnel only speaks German, you have bad luck when you're english
- Personnel is unfriendly, including the reception desk/front office
- I distrust the medical personnel, since when is getting a 500 dollar X-Ray part of the normal procedure when you're coughing / have a common cold?
- The hotel was often too cold inside, compared to the 35 degrees it was outside (again a health hazard)
- There was no room-service, despite the fact they claim to have one
- Rooms were not cleaned every day, in 3 separate occasions we had to ask the reception to send somebody
- Lots of noise from outside. At one time there was a party inside the hotel that had screaming students that went on till 1.30 at night. After complaints the front-office did nothing to stop the noise, even though it was on the resort terrain.

Coupled with the bad service, unclean rooms and health hazards I can only say: Do not go to this hotel, or when you do make sure they clean the room and air-conditioner in the room before turning it on.

Also, it seems like the Germans I met there all seemed to like it, perhaps this is a great hotel for you.. if you're a middle-aged German?

The hotel itself, the room, food & beverages are excellent. Improvement desired in service especially at the pool bar - waiters chating with friends and no interest in guests sitting and waiting at the table - there is no other way to get coffee or drink to glass - in case of self service they serve you in plastic for hygienic reasons around the pool. If you dare to eat your food (pancakes and filled potato prepared 15 m from the pool bar) you are directed to leave to consume the food outside the pool bar area, however nobody cares mothers "serving" softdrinks to their children directly inside to pool while spilling the content into the pool water !!! The drinks are served in the restaurant by waiters - self service of drinks from the postmix machine could be easier and much faster. Service should be limited to wine and other alcoholic drinks only. Free wifi available around the reception area.

We went to the hotel at the end of May 09. And everything was absolutely perfect! Friendly, professional staff, great pools and beach, good food. There were very few things we were not quite happy about. A la cart restaurants - we had to wait for toooo long get ANY food there ) Starving at the end )) The other thing was - we had to hang "do not disturb" card outside every single night or cleaning ladies burst in without giving us a chance to stop them )) Also we had two other slight inconveniences - we needed a chilren's pot for our baby and couldnt get it anywhere in the neighborhood (after all a nice guy from pharmacy brought it for us from Manavgat); and they do not practice borrowing an iron so we had to use laundry all the time and wait..and pay :) But all this was really nothing and we are coming to Kumkoy again - in 3 months! Taking our friends with us )

We will come back!

An amazing all included club!

A perfectly relaxing vacation with mainly German visitors.

The service staff was always working hard a nice, pleasant family atmosphere to create even if it is in terms of German or English language skills Scattered problems.
Very clean and lovingly cared for hotel with a very nice management which is very present

The ideal hotel for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.
