“Hector Rocks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

Hector rocks, and let me you for what reason my friend. Never did I expect so much enthusiasm and knowledge about the flora and fauna of the Monteverde rain forests from our guia. Hector, employed by Santa Maria, guided our group of North Americans Germans, Britons, French and Dutch. He spoke broken English well, accommodating all of our needs to understand all the what before us. He provided flashlights for those of us without and took close up photos of the wildlife for us upon request. With Hector's help we spotted the orange knee tarantula, the two-toed sloth with newborn, the bicuspid blue hen, the venomous green vaspa snake and various illuminating insects and other small mammals, amphibians and birds.
Come to find out Hector is an entrepreneur. He does free-lancing work during daylight hours at Selvatura Park. I anticipate this young man will go far in life.

Highly recommended. 25$ for two hours of night time exploratory fun

“Awesome tour! Totally worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Joaquin, our guide that night, was very commited with his job, and thanks to him, we saw lots of animals! Including a sloth, hanging on a tree, and just a couple of meters away from us, really really close! We also saw martillas, (which are endangered), olingos, poisonous snakes, and even an orange-knee spider!! I totally recommend this tour, you really get to see more animals during the night, and with an expert's help.

“A "must-do" in the Cloud Forest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

This was our first tour in Monteverde, and we were very fortunate to see a lot of wildlife. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we were able to see many different insects, a young quetzal, a toucan, a kinkajou, and even a viper. Well worth the cost of the tour, highly recommend.

Saw so many species in this very informative night walk including a kinkajou, porcupine, viper snake, orange kneed tarantula, walking stick and toucans. Guide was so knowledgeable. Inexpensive, this tour is worth every penny

“Night Crawlers Galore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We had Alex as our guide. I agree he was good and enthusiastic, but I didn't like the fact that the group was too large (10 people). It's a bit hard for everyone in a large group to see each creepy crawler before they speed off into a hiding spot. Night walks should be in smaller groups. He pointed out alot of insects from walking sticks, a tarantula and other spiders. There was a giant snail eating another snail (cool or yuk depending on your view). We saw a sloth, some opossums and a few frogs as well. Overall, there was a lot to see and we were glad that we signed up for the tour.
