We came here before the Bat Jungle tour for lunch and ended up taking the chocolate tour. My 14 year old and I loved learning about how cacao pods are harvested and cacao bean are turned into chocolate. There was a lot of tasting on this tour which helped us understand the differences in quality of chocolate and also how processing affects the ultimate taste. The chocolate produced by Cafe Cabure is in a whole different universe certainly from Hershey's (shouldn't be called chocolate) and even the finest chocolate produced in Belgium and Switzerland. There is a huge opportunity for someone in Costa Rica to farm and produce high quality chocolate in a bigger scale. it's amazing! Oh and the food at Cafe Cabure is on par with a high end restaurant anywhere in California...it's excellent. We went back twice during our stay in Monteverde.
