Thank you very much for the negative comment.

The negative comments are positive for our family because we know we must modify the buildings and each day be better for our customers are happy and eager to come back and visit again.

We are so happy to have friends who are 20 years of visiting
and each year they return with a friend or family different every time.

In all circumstances, every day the family of Manakin Lodge gets a new friend and is a part of the family this new friend.

Thanks to you now, all our rooms are remodeled and a works 100%.

I have stayed at the Manakin at different times over the last twenty years since it was a very humble couple of rooms at the back of the family home. I've watched the place grow into a very comfortable and well-designed pension that still has the attention that comes from a family who knows their business very well and cares about the quality of their guests' time in Monteverde. I've sent many people there over the years and they all feel the same way and are happy to have stayed there. The Manakin is in a great location to get by rental car or local bus, shuttle or taxi to all of the local reserves and attractions, and walking distance to the best of the restaurants and night spots. In a place where things change constantly - often growing into a more corporate-sized establishment - this is one that has truly only changed for the better.

The service from the owners was fantastic, they were very helpful and breakfast was great. The rooms are good and value for money.

We stayed here for a couple of nights near the end of a 2 week trip around Costa Rica and I have to say that although this was one of the cheapest places we stayed it was the best! Although quite basic, our room was really spotlessly clean and comfortable with a new bathroom which had an excellent view of the forest from the shower.
The staff are really genuinely friendly and provide a lovely breakfast with lots of choices.
I think my favourite thing about this hotel was being surrounded by wonderful wildlife! One morning I opened the curtains to find a Toucan sitting in the tree just next to our balcony who was later joined by his friend, and the next day we had monkeys joining us for breakfast!

This lovely, quiet place is just outside Monteverde/Santa Elena and just fantastic. The rooms are huge and clean and the bathroom renewed (with hot showers!). The staff is fantastic. They are really friendly and helpful and know everything what is going on in Monteverde and Santa Elena. They can book all activities for you and you can even go on an interesting tour with a family member! Furthermore they give you super tips where to eat (Restaurant De Lucia!!!! YAMMIIEE!!!). If you are looking for a place with WiFi - they got it too!
We loved this place, wanted to thank the staff for everything and would come back anytime.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Manakin Lodge right before the Christmas holidays. It's a very nice, clean, hotel sandwiched between the two towns where all the action is in Monteverde. What makes this a hotel I'd recommend is the family that runs it. They are a wonderful group of people who will book all of your excursions for you and will even take you out on some of their own. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to the area.

Costa Ricans are friendly, but this family was the friendliest of the hotels we tried. My partner worked days in their dining room using the internet, and the staff would come out and ask her if she wanted tea or snacks, and that help was not requested nor charged for. This is not an opulent paradise, just a tucked away hotel, but it's well-managed, comfortable, and a good price. The local activities were well-explained to me and I easily booked day trips through their front desk.
