“Not four star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Let me start with the conclusion: This is not a four star hotel – it is a two star hotel, - or maybe on a good day a three star hotel. But never four – not even in Turkey.
It is a budget hotel with an all-inclusive concept that is OK – but not more than that.

Let me explain my conclusion:
The rooms are VERY basic – look at the amateur pics you will find here, they look as if is a youth hostel. A bed, a cabinet, an old fashioned TV with a couple of Turkish cannels.
And everything you see have only gotten the most rudimentary maintenance recent years.

The pool area is way too small, if you are not down with your towels in sunbeds at 7.00 you will not have any that day! The sunbeds are old and of different types and the mattresses are dirty.
The waterslides lacks maintenance as well. On your way down you feel like a cheese being sliced, where the joints are.

At the beach the sunbeds are even older – and the mattresses more dirty. However here is chance to actually get one – not at least in the afternoon.
The beach bar is OK, the food is same every day - chicken, chips and salad – but what more do you need.

In general I think the food is OK. They serve a lot of fish to the dinner, I don’t like fish with bones, but they seemed very popular, not least the Turkish guests appreciated them very much. Do not expect cuisine, but you can usually find some chicken or turkey (marinated). A lot of different cakes – and my favorite: Water melon.
But it is hard to get a table – don’t expect that you can have one table for your family without another family in the other end. And it is very noisy! The line is very long for the outdoor buffet – expect 20 minuttes. A few tables next to the pool are you allowed to take when they have been placed – and they were taken about 1½ hour before dinner.
Breakfast is ok – always different eggs and omelets.
Over all the hygiene seems to be OK.

Generally the staff is very friendly, I speak both German and English and was able to communicate with most of them.
The reception is not working. They can check you in, and hand out your key – and I did not find much friendliness there. From 10-12.00 and from 14-16.00 there is a person taking care of “guest relations”. She was very friendly, but not much help. However one of our kids had birthday while we were there, and we had ordered a covered table with flowers. It was a little expensive – but nice.

I was on the hotel with my family (5 persons) two weeks from late June 2013. I have been in the same area in Konakli 5 times before and like the area – and you can find a lot of nice hotels in the area. This year we decided to try the Eftalia Resort because it was four star, cheap and they had family rooms. If you look at other hotels/”resorts with three stars you will be able to find them to same price – and this is my point: It is cheap if it was a four star hotel – but is not.
It you are looking for a budget hotel and can live with the points if have mentioned you will not be disappointed.
If you think you have bought a four star resort with just a touch of luxury, you will be absolutely horrible disappointed.

This hotel was a substitute for another smaller hotel we had booked back in December but got an email start of April from travel republic saying there was a problem with our hotel booking and this was the replacement or get a refund for hotel.. We had already booked flights etc so refund wasn't an option. Read the reviews on here and feared the worst but at the price we had paid £446 for 10 nights all inclusive for 2 adults and 3 kids 17,12,5 decided to go with an open mind.
We had booked a family room with 2 bedrooms and a living room but when checking in this option wasn't available so we were given 2 rooms and told if we wanted it could be changed in the morning. Looked at the 2 bed room and decided to stick with the 2 separate rooms. Rooms were clean with a small bath with shower above. 1 double bed, 1 single and 1 sofa bed, towels all changed daily and room cleaned to good standard. Air con was free but needed key in for it to work. Food was decent with a decent variety but as always does get a bit repetitive same as any hotel though. Fresh omelettes and eggs prepared for breakfast, chicken, fish etc always available for lunch, dinner again cooked in front of you in outside restaurant. Fresh pizza made in inside dinning room. As others have said this is a busy hotel with many nationalities with people from all over including UK and Ireland. Swimming pools very busy so you need to get up at 6.30 to get sunbed!! even though there is signs up saying you cant reserve beds until 8.00 but if you want a bed you need to get up then go back to bed if you want!!. We found we preferred the quiet pool away from the busier pools with entertainment and water slides, this still has pool bar but is not always staffed but fridge is full of bottles of water or worst case just serve yourself. There is free WIFI available in lobby and around pool if you want it. Not the most reliable but its free and there is also computers to use if you want 3 euros for 1 hour. As others have said everything is priced in Euros but you get better value for Lira!. most shops were giving you price of Lira as 2.5 X the Euro ie 5 euro = 12.50 Lira but the shop in hotel which sells papers etc most of the time just doubled it for me. Also his price for Dr Dre headphones was better than other shops in area and in resort centre. There are a number of shops, exchange and shops selling excursions, We done Turkish bath, jeep safari and boat trip booked with shop next to chemist around corner as he done best deal and other people I had spoken with recommended him. Turkish bath was best one I have had to date and was £12 bus came and picked up and took me 5 mins to resort centre and back when done. Hotel have Spa centre and charge £25 for same thing. Beach is a 5 minute walk away behind which looks like a newly built hotel. Hotel has its own section of beach with beds and a beach bar serving snacks etc. Only downside was not a great deal of restaurants if you wanted to go out for meals with only 1 nearby which was more of a café/bar same in resort centre with a few places to eat but best one we found was the one just over the bridge which crosses over main rd next to shopping centre best one by far and reasonable priced. Lots of shops in resort centre but no cheaper than ones around hotel. You can get a bus into Alanya about 10 miles away but we never did. Drove through twice on way to trips and is a Very large Town with lots of restaurants and shops.

Overall Hotel Very Good so I would recommend this and if you go with an open mind you will enjoy

Stayed here with wife and five teenage children. We usually on go five star abroad, and believe me there is a big difference. After the initial shock of the lower standard, and when we stopped comparing to previous holiday, we actually enjoyed the holiday. The food is repetitive, but hygenically served, and plentiful. We didn't have upset stomachs. Rooms basic but clean, Aircon effective. Drinks, small selection and watered down, try as I might, I couldn't get tipsy. Dutch , Russian and Germans in abundance unfortunately. Rude, unpleasant, unclean and smelly all in all. My 16 year old daughter was assaulted by an adult Dutch woman, thankfully the hotel dealt with it before my wife and other daughters did. Waiters very friendly and happy to be of service, murhat, cemal, Benjamin and cevat, all very good. Turkish bath, purpose built founded in 1908, 300m towards konakli, excellent, one of the best I've had and also very reasonable. Talk to Gem. Take English money, change in alanya, you'll get at least 2.9lira to the £. Rate in hotel 2.6 , in konakli 2.8 . Euro advertised prices but better deal for lira. Konakli resort centre very clean, lots of shops, market on Wednesday, usual Turkish market. Lots of fast food shops. English are scarce, but if polite are well appreciated by the locals and preferred over European and Russians. Hotel does what it says on the tin. Expect no more, no less. Very strict over finishing times. You can go hungry between 12 midnight and 7am. If you are used to five star, be aware this is maybe a three at best.

We were a bit apprehensive going to this hotel after reading the reviews on here. We have just returned after a 2 week stay. They were so wrong. Most of the staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful, especially Benjamin the waiter and Ali off the animation team. The first week, we felt a bit on our own as not a lot of English people there (this could just have been because of the time of year), the 2nd week there were more English staying here. The hotel is kept clean and the maid service was fab and rooms were cleaned daily. The beach was shingly and not sandy, however the beach in Alanya was much better. Location was good, plenty of shops in and around hotel and a 10 min walk into Konakli and they have a market on every Wednesday (great for haggling), You can catch a dolmus into Alanya for 3 lira outside of hotel. Food did get repetitive and was not brill but plentiful, though they do have to cater for all of the different nationalities. Try the a la carte as this was well worth it but you do have to book it. There were German (rude) guests, Dutch and Russian. Don't be put off by the rude Germans or Dutch pushing in queues and stand your ground. Euro is pretty much the currency they like in this part of Turkey (due to a lot of Germans) living in this province. They will accept Turkish Lira, make yourself aware of the exchange rate as they will try to short change you. We travelled in a family group aged from 5 - 51 years and we all really enjoyed this holiday, The animation team try their best (though not always good) but give them a chance as again a lot of nationalities to cater for and they work from morning until night (long hours). As for the race for the sunbeds, this was rubbish. There were plenty of sunbeds and you could get one up until about 9.30 but then most of the beds were taken. Pool area can be slippy so be careful though there are signs up.

Room Tip: Be aware of the exchange rate if using Turkish Lira (we used it) without any difficulty as everythin...
