We were there as part of a foodie group trip and stayed for 2 nights. We could see there was new management because a lot of sprucing up had been done. Beds are very comfortable and the room spotless. Food was very good and the staff attentive. The location is everything with wonderful views over the lagoon and out to sea. Bird life is prolific. They are working hard to get back their 4th star - which should be very soon judging by the enthusiasm of management.

Wow, what amazing views, i felt relaxed the moment i got out the car, its like a little piece of paradise. Great food, awesome service. The SPA treatments are really worth it and the prices are very reasonable. This is a great family vacation they have everything!

Great job to the Mgmt and team at the estuary you have pulled it off!

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the Estuary and beach, its amazing!

My best friend and I decided to take some time-out and stayed at this beautiful hotel. The rooms were enormous with breathtaking views which we enjoyed with a gin and tonic and camera on hand. The bird life is abundant and we honestly felt at one with nature. The breakfast spread is something to really look forward to in the mornings to fuel up for a day of beach walks and spa treatments. Staff are friendly and happy to assist. Beds are comfortable - we booked a double room and EACH of us had our OWN double bed!! Luxury.

August is a little nippy in the evenings but we had thick, fluffy blankets in the rooms and the days were still glorious in the sun.

We also enjoyed a (few too many!) cocktails sitting by the pool watching the resident Egyptian goose strutting his stuff.

We ended off with the best Sunday carvery and headed home with fully bellies, a peaceful mind and happy heart.

We will be back. With friends.

Room Tip: The new block has beautiful estuary and beach views with large patios.

Breathtaking scenery, stunning sea-facing room (311) , jacuzzi bath, excellent breakfast spread, fantastic spa therapists, great beaches and beach walks on well maintained paths.
It is under new management and this is clear from our first visit last year. We have spent our last two anniversary's here (June) and have loved it.

My wife and I stayed at the Estuary for a friend's wedding and it was beautiful!! Many people always complain to go so far South the KZN coast but this hotel definitely makes it worth your while. The scenary, the beaches, the accommodation, all are beautiful! We stayed in the hotel and the rooms were clean and staff very friendly. We also enjoyed the food from the hotel. Our friends stayed in the Villa's and they are perfect for large groups, the one we saw had 4 bedrooms and each bedroom had its' own bathroom which is great!! Excellent place, great staff and most of all, great scenary!!

Such a pity this review - the Hotel is situated in as perfect a place as one could ever dream. The view is 7 star, but the rest was sadly 3 star.

The rooms are lacking upkeep. They have the R20 shower head, the mould on the ceiling above the shower is not pretty. The water stain down the wall below the aircon is annoying but worst of all are the dirty sports on the carpet. All they need to do is spend about R1000and the room will look and feel great.
The breakfast was good but cold on the first day. Same choices every morning. Butter was a problem, one should not have to ask for butter three mornings in a row. The orange juice pitcher was jammed from cells. We had to stop the coffee filter machine from overflowing.
The prices are steep for what you are getting. The Estuary have definitely got their charging at a 5 star level.
The room is also very loud, if anyone sneezes or showers in a nearby room, good luck sleeping.
Once again I have to say that this review could have been brilliant, but it seems someone has forgotten to focus on the simple things.

Hope this helps.

Room Tip: You must stay in a sea facing room. Take a walk down to the beach.

We booked 2 hours prior to arrival with no expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. A super place to spend the night. Big airy room. Lovely food for supper and breakfast. There was a small problem with the hot water which was very quickly resolved after a call to reception. What a lovely setting, we certainly would like to return.
