I've just returned from Selge Hotel. It was our first trip to Turkey and first impressions we were impressed with the hotel. It was very clean and modern, generally the staff were very friendly, but I agree with yorkshiretaylor, I too found Nigel very rude and abrupt. He talked to my husband and son but never even acknowledged me to the point I felt so uncomfortable I refused to eat or drink in the hotel half way through our break. He tried to con us over a meal, we ordered 1 meal to serve 3 as it was a massive Testi Kebab, however he put 3 on the bill so instead of a bill for 13 Lira we had a bill for 50 Lira.
(yes if you do the maths it's more than 3 x 13) My husband refused to pay and negotiated it down to 30 Lira. After that Nigel didn't speak to my husband, it made us feel very uncomfortable. when we left the hotel to go out for the day, he kept asking us when we were coming back, were we going to eat at the hotel, we got to the point that once we saw he wasn't in the bar area we'd run out the hotel so not to be acosted!

The young girl on reception was very helpful and friendly, and Talat and Altan went out of their way to help us, they worked very hard from breakfast in the morning, all day at the pool and then meals in the evening. It's a shame that one person put the dampner on it for us, apart from him everything else was brilliant.

Side itself was beautiful, the hotel was about a 20 min walk away or just a quick dolmus bus ride, they run every 10 mins and if you go to the coach stop you can get another one to anywhere in the area. Excellent transport access - UK take note! There's a supermarket next door to the hotel so you can get your drinks/snacks from there - just hide them in your bags so they don't see!

Overall a nice, clean, friendly and cheap hotel that covers your basic needs.

This is the first review i've prepared for Trip Advisor. I decided to write it as a counter balance to the recent report by YorkshireTaylor.
I travelled with my 11 year old son having been to Turkey on a number of previous occasions. Our one week stay at Selge was generally very good with the main plus points being the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food in the restaurant &, from my sons point of view, the pool area! The only real negatives would be the very ordinary looking hotel reception which could do wih being a little more welcoming & similarly quite ordinary looking rooms. Having said that the hotel was spotlessly clean & as far as i could tell was well maintained.
The hotel is situated on one of the main roads into Side & is about a 20 minute walk into the Old Town although there are dolmuses available to flag down on the main road outside the hotel. There is also a small taxi rank right outside the hotel (although taxis were found to be quite expensive).
I certainly didn't experience any overcharging at the bar & i ran up a tab every day. I also can't agree with the comments about Nigel (actually i think the guys name is Necep) as he was very polite, great with the kids & ready with a joke for the adults when appropriate. As for the rest of the staff - Talat, Devrim, Altan et al they really were excellent.
As for the restaurant the only minor negative would be that the menu is quite limited which may become more of an issue for people staying more than a single week. However the quality of the food & speed of service were very good.
All in all a good hotel for the price i paid & one which i would certainly consider revisiting.

we just got back from staying at the selge hotel well wat can i say they played the same music every day which got quite annoying, the food was over priced and not that good, and i advise anyone who is going there not to run a bill, we did this and got ripped off big style as they add things on to your bill that we never even had. nigel is the worst for it. over all we found that most staff had no manners especially nigel. we wont be returning there again.

We stayed here for our honeymoon - what can I say. We had a lovely stay. Nice quiet location but great DOLMUS service every few minutes right outside the hotel. All staff very friendly and a good laugh. Breakfast was nice, no problems. Always something for everyone. The hotel was kept very clean and so was the pool. About a 20 min walk into Side with lots of restaurants along the way. Linekars Bar was a great English bar!!! Would recommend to everyone.
