“Nice hostel but let down by location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Firstly, what the recent reviews dont mention is that this hostel is in a pretty run-down area of the city. There was lots of grafitti and suspect people handing around. I didnt feel like exploring very far or staying out after dark. On the plus side, the hostel is very secure (use a key to open the front door and bedroom door). The hostel has a clean, modern feeling and the 4 bed dorm was very spacious (including table and chairs). The common room lacked personality but did have a TV and 2 computers with free internet. There seemed to be not so many showers and toilets for quite a lot of rooms, but the seperate sinks+mirrors room was handy. The automatic lights in the toilets kept going out which was a little weird. The breakfast was really simple but ok for the price (cornflakes or bread with jam and juice).

We had a double room, shared bathroom. The whole place was clean and tidy, fresh and airy. The beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sufficient. It was a metro ride from the train station, to the main square and to the main sights but wasn't too far or too much hassle to get anywhere. All in all a lovely we place to stay.

Great hostel in Brussels, we stayed here in July 2012 and loved it, its a very clean, spacious hostel with lots of clean showers and separate sinks (quite nice for girls getting ready), we had a room of 8 people in a mixed dorm and we did not feel squished or pressed for space, so the rooms are quite nice :) Also there is wifi, but it is a bit spotty sometimes. The staff is friendly and eager to help and the hostel is located a bit from city center but there's a metro station right across the street. What we loved most was that it had a very friendly and easy going atmosphere, there were nice common areas were we met loads of cool people from all over the world, not something we found in every hostel we went to. Overall a great hostel with a good facilities and helpful staff and a good way to meet a diverse range of people while travelling, highly recommended!

Hello hostel will be a wonderful experience to those looking for a friendly environment. As the hostel is not very big, it's very easy to make friends and get to know people from all over the world. There's wifi, pretty decent beds and showers, luggage rooms and even a (though quite simple) breakfast. The hostel is not located near to the city center, but there's a subway station in the same street, which makes eveything easier.

The kitchen was pretty small, but the common room had enough space to hang out and talk to people. Although the hostel wasn't close to a lot of the sights, there was an awesome park nearby and some chill restaurants.
The hostel was close to Simonis metro station and it wasn't a long ride until you were somewhere that had some sights.
Although the staff wasn't very forthcoming with helpful information, they knew their stuff when you asked them.
There weren't many lockers for people to lock up their stuff, and the ones that were there were in the room you can leave your luggage in after you check in, so you have to ask a staff member to let you into the room to access your luggage.

The hostel is located 2 minutes from Simonis Metro station (which connects directly to Midi station for those arriving in Brussels by Eurostar) & means you are never far from the attractions.
The hostel has a corner shop metres away for any supplies & a large supermarket just 5-minutes away.
The rooms have standard-size bunk beds with chairs & a table in-making for a rather cramped atmosphere.
Their is a kitchen area for people to sit in with computers free to use. The breakfast was rather limited-cereal, toast or sweet bread. Free milk, orange juice & hot drinks are also available.
Only guests who have a key can gain access to the hostel 24-hours (unless you contact reception) which means the hostel feels very safe & secure.
The hostel has a large outdoor courtyard area with lots of chairs & tables which is really nice to sit out in the sunshine.
Showers are spacious but lack a dry area to keep your clothes safely whilst you shower. The hostel also has hairdryers & a large mirrored room for those guests who need to beautify.
Overall a pleasant hostel with good transport links & pleasant staff.

I met some wonderful people at Hello Hostel. The hostel had a very "homey" feel. It was great to be able to cook your own meals, use the wifi, and meet new people. This is exactly what I hoped for when I was looking for the "hostel experience." Although, it's quite a walk to the center, there is a metro super close by.
