“Small and almost perfectly formed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

I've stayed in many hotels all over the world and in a number of Sofitel's. In my experience, they are a solidly good brand which you can count on. Don't be put off by the fact that the hotel looks more four star and than the traditional five star hotel on arrival. It doesn't have the grand lobby you might expect at this level but this is more than made up for by the rest of the facilities and its quirky art design. The Sofitel Brussels Europe is an excellent choice if you are going to the European Parliament or Commission or simply want a hotel that's slightly out of the Grand Place area. I like it, for two reasons - it's near Sablon which is a great shopping district and because the rooms are very well appointed - and more than that, the hotel just works seamlessly. They also have a great market in front of the hotel on Sunday mornings. I have stayed twice - the first time on business in September 2011 and the second time in November 2012 for the weekend to visit a friend. I asked for the same room on each occasion and it didn't disappoint. It is on the 7th floor - top floor - and overlooks Parliament and the park behind the hotel. It has a lovely view and gets the sun in the early evening when you're back from your business appointment or your shopping. The hotel is quietly chic with a small but nice bar and a large breakfast room on the ground floor. The centre of Brussels is a metro or taxi ride away. 10 minutes and you're pretty much everywhere you need to be. The chocolate shop on the right of the lobby caused me to put on a couple of pounds! Delicious! I will be back. I suppose the one thing it lacks is a swimming pool - although it does have a Hamman and curiously a nice terrace on the 7th floor overlooking the front of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 7th floor - top floor - overlooking the European Parliament and park. There a...

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of December, the trip was to visit the Christmas market in Brussels. not been to Brussels before, but this hotel was very easy to find. We used the Metro from Gare du Midi, where Eurostar gets in, and the hotel was only a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Schuman Metro station. All the staff we spoke to spoke in English, but didn't mind my attempts at French (!), and everyone was very professional and helpful.
We were upgraded to a superior room, which was very clean and a good sized room. the bathroom was also very clean, and we didn't have the issue with the mirrors steaming up which previous reviews have mentioned. The room came with complimentary still and sparkling water, slippers, bathrobes as well as soaps etc. We were on the 5th floor, facing the street, but the area is very quiet. The whole experience felt like luxury, without the massive price tag that a similar hotel in London would cost.
The location is well outside the centre, however its an easy walk of about 30 mins to the central areas. The square the hotel sits in has plenty of resturants, a couple of bars and takeaway places depending on how adventurous you are feeling! We did not eat at the hotel at any time, we felt there were so many options in the rest of the city known for good food, we had to try them.

Flat screen TV in the room. Bathroom was good with complimentary soaps etc.
Only downside in the bathroom was that after taking a shower the mirror was completely fogged.
A lot of hotels now have mirrors which don’t fog anymore or a good ventilation system. However this was only a small and negligible detail.
Breakfast in the morning was 17.00 EUR, it was okay. But nothing special. Coffee was actually good, which was/is a surprise.
In the end: I had good stay at the hotel but nothing exceptionally. Let’s say good value for money.

It was my third time at Sofitel Brussels Europe and as always it was a good stay.
The room was very clean, as well as the bathroom. I got a room with the shower in the bathtub which was a little disappointing as I know that the other rooms have this amazing big shower, which is so big that in fact you could house a small elephant in it. Only set-back was there was not enough water pressure in the shower.

They installed new Flatscreen TVs since my last stay, and they have sharper image now which is nice. Even if I didn’t actually really used it.
As always there was complimentary water in the minbar which is very nice, and also they have now free WIFI. I know this is getting standard in many hotels, but still, its nice to have it in the room!
Oh yeah… the Mybed is still amazing. Every single time im still amazed at how comfy this is!
Used the library a little bit which is very nice and calm, and the Imac computer helps in case you want to surf the internet a little when you don’t have your laptop or Ipad and don’t want to use your smartphone.

Breakfast was good as always and plenty of choice.
So in the end: still one of my preferred hotels in Brussels.

We went on our first City Break with our 3 year old daughter and I thought long and hard about what sort of hotel, location, room we would need to make it a success.

I chose this hotel because it was slightly out from the mayhem of the Grand Place but within walking or each metro-ing distance. The room had a seperate lounge for our daughter's bed and the hotel was well rated for food and service.

My expectations were already high but this hotel gave us so much more than we could have hoped for. The Service from every single member of staff was excellent. There is no response they give you other than, of course ! They made us feel so welcome and comfortable and I assume it is rare to have children there as it's such a business area but they all knew just how to entertain our little one.

The restaurant was lovely and the food delicious, yes breakfast is incredibly expensive (although free for children under 12) but it was worth doing once for the experience as it was brilliant, after that it's quite easy to grab breakfast in some local patisseries at 1/4 of the price.

The room was lovely, spacious and had everything you could want.

The area is much more child friendly than you'd think. Parks to walk through and the Natural History Museum literally on the doorstep which was fantastic for children, modern, well organised and with amazing dinosaurs.

So all in all I'd love to stay here again we had a brilliant time and the whole family loved it.

Room Tip: If you have a child with you try and get a junior suite the second room was essential for us all get...

An Elegant Hotel nearby the European District at the Place Jourdan and against Leopold Parc. You can leave the car on front of the Hotel to check in or leave it at the private indoor parking.
By checking in they couldn't find the reservation at first time. The name was translated into French (?). Anyway, the reception employee apologized several times and solved it friendly.
We had a luxury room with an excellent Bed: 'MyBed'. Never slept so well in a Hotel!
The restaurant was a pleasant experience because we didn't know it was part of the booking. We can recommend the personal served salad bar. We enjoyed staying at this hotel even though it was not as close as we thought to the centre but it is easy to reach with the subway or taxi.

Room Tip: Try the higher floors at the courtyard because they are quieter.

Just stayed here for three nights.

Good points; immaculately clean and maintained rooms, fabulous and huge bed (my best hotel bed ever), good flat screen TV, nice shower and bath, good toileteries, very polite staff, completely quiet ie a good sleep. A very modern and well presented hotel with very nice staff. Location a bit out of town, but on a pretty square with lots of cafes and restaurants. The locals all buy chips in the square and then take them into a nearby bar.

Bad points; I booked my room early and direct. I was then allocated one of the less good rooms, presumably because I paid less. Room make-up service was insanely late. I returned to the hotel at 3.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. and on neither occasion had the room been made up. Very poor. Breakfast is insanely expensive; I ate down the road, as a matter of principle.

I would return, but the above points were a little annoying.
