“Good coffee, average breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Sitting here right now after a mostly disappointing experience. I ordered the big breakfast with mushrooms instead of baked beans. The bacon, sausages and mushrooms looked and tasted like cheap hotel buffet breakfast food, complete with the look and feel of having sat in a Bain Marie for most of the morning. Very bland. Gratuitous sausages that I decided to just leave after three bites. The bread was fine and coffee was good. My fiance got the teriyaki chicken sub. It tasted like sweet chili with not much hint of teriyaki. Fortunately she had ordered extra sauce on the side. She'd also asked for capsicum on it and they only added a tiny sliver. She wasn't keen on it. We thought we'd give it a go after years of dining at our other favorite local cafes just across the mall. We won't be back for breakfast and won't recommend to anyone. We will however likely come back some time to try their desserts.

“Excellent coffee and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

I sat down to a coffee which was made perfectly as Im a bit fussy when it comes to my long black and how much milk i have...
Service is very attentive, one particular waitress caught my eye...Lacey stockings with a hint of tattoos...very alluring, I was thinking about her after I left....I will be back again.

“Frozen yougurt in hornsby”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

We finally have a cafe that sells frozen yougury! Amazing!! Love the food love the place!
I do think that the service should improve. The staff is too laid back. Had to wait for about five mis to pay the bill, its quite a long wait especially when you are waiting to start eating the frozen yogurt.

“Java Lava Cafe, Hornsby Opens!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Hey all,

Just wanted to be the 1st to post about another location for this great cafe chain that opened on 4th June. We asked TripAdvisor.com to list this location and they obliged on 7th June.

We had what we believe to be the first breakfast at the new location at 7:30am on Wed 5th June, 2013. And it was EVERYTHING we have come to expect. In fact don't recall having lunch that day as breakfast was SO filling.

Now Eddie Michaiel is the owner of this location too, but he has the lovely Maria managing it. And no, you are not seeing double, that's Karina's twin who looks after Pennant Hills!

Colleen had a skinny latte and Larry splurged with a hot chocolate instead of his usual green tea. Colleen had eggs on toast and Larry had the "Big Breakfast" (see http://javalavacafe.com.au/menu.html for the full menu). When you check out the pics we've already done our little swap (Colleen likes the bacon, so Larry passes that over. More than enough to eat in a Big Breakfast you will agree!)

Now the biggest feature in this location is the number of frozen yoghurt machines. FOUR, yes you read - FOUR machines. But if that doesn't grab you the topping bar will. You'll just have to check out the picture as words can't describe!

There were a few patrons already sitting over coffee and toast and plenty of walk in, take aways while we were having breakfast. And there's a cute servery to the mall that means you don't even have to come inside.

Now there are 22 seats inside the actual shop, 28 inside the arcade (see the photos) and Eddie has approval for seating out in the street mall but he's upset that his fantastic large umbrellas haven't arrived, so that seating hasn't been set up yet. Will be fantastic when it is though.

Eddie continues his great service with very enthusiastic young people who were very friendly and full of smiles. Oh, Nic the barista has come across from the Pennant Hills shop to ensure that Java Lava's quality coffee is maintained across the chain.

So job well done Eddie. One closer to your dream. May your business thrive.

Warmest regards,
Larry & Colleen

P.S. For Trip Advisor site - http://www.javalavacafe.com.au/ has menu, but no mention of Hornsby store yet!
