“Could not have been better!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

I feel terrible not writing this earlier. My apologies to the wonderful staff. My husband and I stayed here in late May 2013. We were on a hectic Italy self tour and thought we'd come here to relax...and we could not have picked a better hotel. The staff here is beyond any staff I have ever encountered in ANY resort/hotel I have been to in Europe and the Caribbean. Special thank you to Jucey (sp?) for picking us up in her personal vehicle from the train station. The food here is so fresh, and we could not have asked for better treatment from wait staff and Chef. What we loved the most about this hotel was how intimate it is. We enjoyed meeting other guests staying here. And we had the best sleeps here! Thank you Mariana for treating us like no other hotel has done. We will be back as soon as we can! If you are looking for a place to relax, eat the most amazing food and be treated like a star....this is the place!
P.s. Hope you are still making the martinis :)

For fear of writing a biblical review I'm going to keep this one short.

It's paradise on earth, if you only take one trip to Italy then go here.

The staff are amazing, the accommodation is a lesson is design, the freshly prepared food base on in-season local ingredients is sublime - my only regret was coming home so soon.

One thing - it's not a family resort so if you have kids who want to scream and splash in the pool, then book a family resort - this place is for grown ups.

I don't want you to know how good this place is, I want to keep it as my secret!

My wife and I have visited many top hotels in Italy, but without doubt this is the best there is 11 out of 10.

There should be a new word for perfect in the Italian dictionary- Torre Fiore! My wife and I, as well as 3 other couples of great friends from Toronto, just spent the week of June 9th to 15th at this little jewel in Basilicata, Italy.
Designed, owned and operated by the Giannone family, this boutique hotel delivers much more than it promises. From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel at home, among close friends. No detail is overlooked- from the well-appointed 13 suites and spacious rooms, to the fabulous restaurant where great care is given to avoid any allergies problems (in our group allergies ranged from crustaceans, scallops, and gluten intolerance).
Nestled on a plateau overlooking the surrounding area, the gardens, pool area, and outdoor facilities are outstanding. The excellent restoration of this “masseria” allows the visitor to travel back in time, to a more rustic period, but with all of the best of modern day amenities.
Staff is expertly trained, and ready to go the extra mile to make your sojourn memorable. From the exquisite offerings of the breakfast table, to the intricate and typical regional food offered on the dinner menu, no detail is overlooked. For those like myself who love cooking, classes and demonstrations are available free of charge from their top chef Nicola and his assistant Michele.
When it came to planning excursions throughout this historical region, Mariana Giannone was instrumental in both suggesting sights, and providing driving instructions. Her intimate knowledge of the area and its residents allowed us to enter private homes and interact with residents, as well as providing excellent guides for our forays in unknown territory.
Mariana’s attention to detail, her warmth and care, and her active presence at Torre Fiore endears her to all who are fortunate to be her guests. My wife and I had an early (5 AM) departure time, but at 4:30 AM, Mariana came to our door with cappuccinos, cookies, and box lunches for our trip. Where else can one get such treatment?
We are now back home in Toronto, but our memories of Basilicata, Torre Fiore and Mariana will always stay with us. Grazie Mariana for making this stay a perfect 10! We will return, and can only hope that more people will make the journey to your enchanting Torre Fiore, and create wonderful memories of their own.

My husband and I stayed at Torre Fiore in May, and haven't stopped thinking about it since then. We loved everything about it. We stayed in several different hotels during our trip to Italy, and nothing compared to this one. Our room, the food, the staff, the gorgeous infinity pool, everything was perfect. I would recommend that you use Torre Fiore as your home base, and rent a car to tour all the unique sights to see in the surrounding area. I've read all the positive reviews on this site and can't think of anything more to add, except that everything that has been said is true. A vacation that we'll never forget, and somewhere that we dream about going back to.

Room Tip: There are 13 rooms, and they're all amazing.

I've been putting off writing this review for fear I'd have to accept being back in reality. You see, when you're at Torre Fiore, it's as though you are living in a dream world - one filled with the most decadent service from Mariana, Juisy, Donato and all of the staff who will make you feel like a movie star. Your stomach will be filled with delicious and local food day and night and you'll be introduced to some of the best wines that the region has to offer. And your head will be filled with the very rich history of Pisticci, Matera, Metaponto and many more villages in the surrounding area.

My new husband and I spent the last glorious six days of our honeymoon at Torre Fiore. Mariana welcomed us like we were family and provided the most knowledgeable information about the area and how to experience all that it has to offer. From arranging an in-room massage, to booking a tour guide (thank you Amelie) for us to see the Sassi in Matera to recommending a gastronomical adventure like no other (Luna Rossa Restaurante), Mariana took the time to ensure that we made the most of our time at Torre Fiore but on our schedule and at our pace which having just planned a wedding, we really appreciated.

Sure, we went to Amalfi and yes, it was stunning but the experiences that we had at Torre Fiore were so unique and welcoming, that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for some down time, a romantic getaway or even a family vacation, go to Basilicata. And go now because once the secret gets out about Torre Fiore, it will be extraordinarily difficult to get a reservation!

We didn’t want to leave! That best describes our feelings about Torre Fiore.

It was easy to slow down, relax and soak in the picturesque and serene environs immediately upon arrival owing to a warm welcome from the genial and helpful staff..

Our room was perfect: tastefully decorated, spacious, quiet, inviting and luxuriously comfortable. The resort’s landscaping is both beautiful and fragrant. We felt rejuvenated from our dips in the tranquil infinity pool which overlooks the stunning valley. Various beautiful outdoor seating areas abound on the property which were utterly conducive to unwinding. With biking, hiking and walking paths in the immediate area and the sea just minutes away there was never a shortage of opportunites to be active, either.

The intimate size of the resort (only 13 rooms) gave us the opportunity to get to meet, socialize with and befriend fascinating people from around the world! The food and wines were delectable and there was just enough variety to choose something different every night.

Recommendations for excursions in the region were invaluable. Our guided tour of Matera and Sassi was totally engaging and visually breathtaking. The art gallery set in the caves housed one of the most remarkable art displays we have ever seen.

The hotel owner/manager, Mariana Giannone, is gracious and eager to share colourful backstories of the region and to conduct animated and informative tours of Pisticci, her parents’ birthplace. Strolling through the main square with all the locals felt like we had walked back in time 50 years – and we loved basking in Mariana's well-earned celebrity in the community. With the establishment of the Giannone family’s magnificent hotel, they have added class and international stature to the Basilicata region while honouring its heritage and people.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have experienced all of this during our very first stay at Torre Fiore - and it most certainly won't be our last!

Room Tip: Other guests expressed similar satisfaction about their accommodations.

Having spent a wonderful two weeks at Torre Fiore last year we returned again this year for another week. Arriving through the gates and being greeted by Mariana and Giusy, it was like coming home. And that is the best way to sum up this resort. It is small, friendly, extremely comfortable throughout and is a superb location to explore the delights of the Basilicata region. Rooms are great, the pool area is excellent and you are only 10 minutes away from the best beaches you will find anywhere.
It is said that one should never return to a place that was perfect first time because it may not live up to your expectations. For the most past Torre Fiore did not fall into this category but it has to be said that we had some minor disappointments this year. This mainly centered around the restaurant and service. We found that this year the overall level of food service did not come up to last year's level and this was no doubt due to the change in staff and in particular the restaurant manager whom we learned on our last day is leaving so perhaps this aspect has already been sorted. No complaint about the food itself, that was good and very reasonably priced. We felt that the new Patio Restaurant lacked atmosphere. Dim the lighting, introduce a little bit of candle light and it would make the world of difference.
Overall we love the place, the staff (with one exception that would now appear to have been addressed) are great and could not be more friendly and helpful and Mariana and her father are a delight to be with. We will without doubt be back.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent so chose the best your budget will allow.
