“Local Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

This is our "Local". We love coming for dinner to watch the sunset after a busy day. It may seem like it's at the end of nowhere, but that's its appeal. Staff are friendly, service is efficient and we haven't had a meal we could complain about (and we've had many dinners).Meals are generously proportioned, so worth the money, and we often share the main. There's no pressure to move on, so you can sit and sip and watch the world float by. It gets busy on Wednesdays (Badge Draw), Thursdays (Trivia) and of course, weekends, so get there early if you want a good seat. The entertainment on the weekends is unobtrusive, but sets the mood. Kids are welcome. For overseas visitors, the River Cat from Circular Quay or Darling Harbour drops you off with just a 2 minute walk. We are very thankful to have such a treasure on our doorstep.

“Mass dining with a great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

You don't go here for a quiet, romantic dining experience. However for a A$20 annual membership, not essential, to what is like a RSL, get 10% discount off what is reasonably priced food and drinks in a large noisy restaurant with a view to die for.
To be fair we were in what can be described as a large cafe area (other areas both inside and out offer more of a restaurant experience) which was ideal for our party of 12 including 5 children between 8 weeks and 12 years old. Queue to order food then queue to order drinks. Food is ready to collect from the bar when the mobile flashing alarm, given on ordering, goes off. Our party had a mixture of fish (hot and cold mixed fish plate) beef, calamari etc and the quality was surprisingly good, prepared in reasonable time and consumed with no criticism. Kids of all ages are welcomed, as long as they stay clear of the bar, so is ideal for young families. We were there on a busy Friday evening and by 6.30 the tables were full so arrive early.
Wherever you sit a view of the Parramatta river provides spectacular views and a wonderful backdrop. Those familiar with RSL clubs in Australia will know the format. They provide mass dining at great value and Sydney Rowing Club is no exception.

“Great spot to eat and to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

I have eaten in the Sydney Rowing Club in Abbotsford several times over the last few years and always enjoy returning. The most recent visit was catching up for lunch with good friends on Friday 18 October, 2012. For my wife though, it was the first time. The fantastic 270 degree water views are a special treat. The menu covers all tastes and the offerings are reasonably priced. My wife and I both had seafood - again a very good catch in every way.... In summary: the Sydney Rowing Club - Watergrill is a top spot to have a meal for any occasion. We'll be back for sure.

“On the rivers edge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Great place to catch up with friends in the outside restaurant. If you live west or north west in Sydney, then driving there is a real pain as you have to traverse many back streets to get down to river front through some old inner city suburbs. The best & most relaxing way would be to catch a rivercat

“What a View.. and delicious food!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

I recently attended the Sydney Rowers for lunch with a group of ladies. We travelled from both Circular Quay and Parramatta by Rivercat which only took about 30 minutes. With a two minute walk to The Sydney Rowers.
What a lovely day we had .. great views of Canada Bay and fast service at the 'Watergrill' .
Large menu selection and very generous serves. Everyone's meal looked delicious the calamari was the best I've had in a long while. Very reasonably priced.
All the ladies were satisfied... not an easy feat with a group of ladies our age !!!
