“Service with a smile - all the way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

We arrived late in the evening to this lovely place and we instantly felt like queens! Said is so thoughtful and welcoming, as is his wife, always smiling, anticipating the next wish of the guests... We stayed in the most beautiful room that has a view on the square, and Said showed us around and then offered to serve our dinner on the roof terrace. We did not want to inconvenience our hosts at first, but he insisted and assured us it was fine, and it was a wonderful experience! The view over the village is amazing from the terrace and we really felt very welcome and hope to be back one day.

I stayed there for a couple nights and it was all perfect. Said is great and even arranged my transportation to Chaouen when I left. I stayed at the marvelous Bit Sidi and I must say it is an experience in it's own.

Would certainly recommend the Dar Ines to anyone in Moulay Idriss!

This place is a terrific find in a town with limited accomodations. We were lucky enough to stay two nights in the Bit Sidi room which is like no other in this Dar. This spacious room is rimmed with colored glass windows. In the mornings it felt like we were waking up inside a rainbow. The only downside is the tiny bath attached to this room. But this inn made our stay memorable. The staff is warm and hospitable but - as a native English speaker - their English is almost non-existent. So brush up on your Arabic or French! We were able to get along just fine (with some funny misinterpretations) with our limited French. Everyone was charming. The inn is a little difficult to find but we found it on our own. (Download and print the map on their web site. It helps.) We got to Moulay Idriss after getting off the train at Meknes and then taking a grand taxi directly to Moulay Idriss. (The grand taxis are only located a few blocks for the train station in Meknes.) We stayed two nights in Moulay Idriss. Just be warned there are just some simple restaurants in the town and lots of cafes. The food choice in the town is not great. No restuarant to recommend. We did eat one night at the Dar. The food and service were far better than any offerings in the town - and included wine!

Room Tip: Grab the large Bit Sidi room if you can.

This awesome Dar should not to be missed upon your trip in Morocco. We were treated as kings in our own palace! Staff and owner are extremely friendly and helpful
and did their utmost best to make our stay into an unforgettable experience.
The house is beautiful restored in its authentic state by the owner and all is very clean, cosy and beautiful decorated. It's in the middle of the centre but very quiet. Moulay Idriss is a very charming and authentic small town. From here it's easy to explore Fes, Volubilis and Meknes.
The owner also organises private tours in the mountains and nearby villages.
Breakfast was really a treat, all homemade with organic ingredients.
We stayed in the suite 'Bit Sidi' which was awesome. We felt like sleeping in a palace! We've seen the other rooms as well and they are all amazing beautiful, cosy and decorated with talent.
The house has a beautiful terrace to enjoy breakfast or a romantic evening.
We sencerely do hope to return one day, it was a highlight of our 2 weeks travel.
Great value compared to price.
We've both travelled a lot but this Dar will stay in our heart forever!

We recently spent 4 days in Moulay Idriss in this lovely Dar. The hotel location is awesome being in the center of the city. It was far enough off the main square that we could not hear any outside noise. You can make day trip to Fes and Meknes from a perfect base at Dar Ines. The staff is the nicest and most accommodating staff I have ever dealt with. You feel like you are hanging out with your friends. When we arrived they gave us a choice between 5 rooms. Breakfast is provided on the roof and had plenty of options. The owner, is very visible and super friendly. We found exactly what we were looking for in Moulay Idriss and hope to be back someday!

You MUST stay at this special place at least once in your life!! Dar Ines in Moulay Idriss has the best of both worlds—proximity to exciting things to see during the day (such as Fez, Volubilis, and the mountains) and a peaceful retreat at night. The kind-hearted staff treated us like special guests; they were attentive without being intrusive. The rooms are attractive, clean, and comfortable, with a charming rustic décor. The private bathrooms have plenty of hot water, soap, towels, and toilet paper (things you can’t take for granted in many places). There are several lovely common rooms, too, for groups to enjoy tea, quiet reading, etc.
The landscaped rooftop terraces provided spectacular, romantic panoramic views of the lovely town, lush green farms, mountains, Roman ruins, and gorgeous sunsets. On one terrace, the night air was scented with jasmine. At the time for prayer, calls echoed in the valleys from several mosques—ringing tenors and rich baritones--a moving sound for anyone to hear, no matter their religious affiliation.
The food was fantastic! It’s organic and natural, fresh from the surrounding mountains and fields. Warm home-made breads, a tangy eggplant spread that we couldn’t stop eating (the name sounded like "cake sauce"), melt-in-your-mouth tagines (stews) redolent with fresh herbs and spices, home-made lemon marmalade, fresh cheese, fruits, pastries, and delicious wine made by the manager.
We took a delightful day trip to a mountain inn that is owned by relatives of the owner of Dar Ines. There, too, we were treated with the warmest possible hospitality. To “burn off” all the good food served at the inn, there were several excellent hikes, from easy to challenging. We saw huge rocks sculpted by wind and water into fantastic shapes, colorful wildflowers, sheep and goats grazing peacefully, birds nesting on cliffs, a stream pouring down a dramatic gorge, and a distant reservoir shimmering sapphire-blue in the sunlight. The most strenuous hike is up to a mosque on a high pinnacle, which provides breathtaking 360 degree views for miles in all directions.
Another day trip was to Fez. There were far too many interesting and enjoyable things to describe--it could fill a book! Nevertheless, we were SO grateful to retreat to quiet, cool Dar Ines at the end of the day.
Nearby Volubilis has ruins of an ancient Roman city--amazing to see! Well worth spending a couple of hours there.
The Dar Ines manager was delighted to answer our questions, good-naturedly letting us practice our “phrasebook French” on him. When we expressed an interest in music, he delighted us by showing wonderful audio and video recordings of music and dance from several regions of Morocco. One of the ladies did gorgeous, intricate henna decorations on my hands. By the end of our stay, we felt we were saying goodbye to old friends.

I stayed in Dar Ines with a group of collegues when attending a conference at the University of Meknes. I was happy that we were offered such an atypical place t stay, which changes from the usual conference hotels. We even organized some workshops in the house.

Situtated in a good place with reasonable distances to the imperial cities of Fes and Meknes, this place is a fantastic address for independent travellers. The village itself is small, but worth exploring. House is beautiful and decorated with style. Sunny terrasse was a nice place to hang out even at winter time. Staff is welcoming and the food is excellent. I'd certainly visit Dar Ines again!
