“exceptionally clean hotel with lovely views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

I booked this hotel only for 1 night stay mainly for the proximity to the museum I wanted to visit near Basel. I was very impressed by an extremely friendly reception staff, who cheerfully showed us around the hotel rater than just handing the key to us. Our room was extremely clean, simply spotless with pleasant ambiance. Each room has nice balcony with the views out to the surrounding landscape.
The main building houses the well-designed seating rooms with lovely views of the outdoor landscape. Nice place to sit and enjoy the breakfast if you can afford time.
This will be my choice of stay in this region if heading that direction in my future travels.

Stayed here for just one night due to it's proximity to Basel in Switzerland.

It is a converted villa with lots of original features being retained. Our room was large with a small balcony and a bathroom which was fantastic. The breakfast was superb.

Would visit again if in the area.

It is a very nice 3 star hotel on top of a hill with a nice view. Staff is very kind although not all speak English. Breakfast is good and the terrace is beautiful!

The problem is that we stayed during summer and the hotel has not air conditioning! So we were forced to open the balcony door to refresh a little and suffered of some bugs. Rooms are small. And there is a lot of noise in the street when the motorcycles pass through.

The Villa Elben is really something special. Situated above Lörrach, a German city near Basel, it offers a great view both on the city as on the phantastic landscape around as far as the Swiss Jura. As it is surrounded by a park, it is a very relaxed place, quiet and far away from daily stress. Yet, it is a 5 minutes walk to the centre of Lörrach and a short drive to interesting Basel.
The villa itself is what Germans would call kaiserlich, built in a kind of Gründerzeit style.
You can enjoy some time on their terrace, where you can also have breakfast. Their breakfast, by the way, is really good and healthy
The owners of the place and the staff are all very attentive.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the old building and try to get one with a balcony.

This hotel gives a very good quality for a reasonable price.
We stayed just one day, continuing to Switserland.
Friendly staff: helped us with the lugage (high quality service), nice and comfortable room,
We stayed with our dog without a problem. The breakfast, nice atmosphere with soft classical music in a nice decorated room........ you can start the day relaxed mmmmmmm.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks with work. It was an excellent, peaceful stay.
The decor is a little rustic, but it works well with the whole style of the hotel.
The views are nice from the room and it has a good choice at breakfast.
Only thing is that there is no elevator - so don't bring too much stuff with you :)

This hotel is just lovely. I have stayed about 30 nights in the last 2 years and it is consistently immaculate. The staff are genuinely friendly, the breakfast is good, the rooms are comfortable, the landscaping is beautiful and it very safe feeling. The patio off the breakfast room is a great place to relax and have a glass of wine on a warm evening. Wireless is complimentary and when you must work in the evening or on the weekend there is no better place than the balcony of your room. Laundry service is good with next day service which is important for us business travelers.

Room Tip: I like the top floor for the very best view of the town and surrounding hills.
