“Everything we could have wanted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

We have been going to Barbados for many years but have always stayed on the south coast, so this was something new . . . . . and it was perfect. The room, kitchenette and bathroom were all as good as we hoped, the view from the room was fabulous, but more importantly, the owners and the staff were all brilliant. I asked John where we could watch the F1 grand prix and he immediately arranged for it to be shown in Zaccios; what service! We loved the bar and restaurant and ate there a lot, but I really should mention the wonderful Curley, who makes sure you have a sunbed, and for whom nothing is too much trouble. We loved everything about Tropical Sunset and would never stay anywhere else.

Our first trip to Barbados was in 2001, we stayed on the south shore and enjoyed it very much. We decided to go to a different part of the island this May, and found a wonderful, comfortable place we will definitely return to. The reviews on this site led us to the Tropical Sunset and it was just what we expected. The bonus was the people we met there, employees, guests and the regulars at the bar , with happy hour and the sunset. We will be back next year.

We stayed here for 11 nights in the middle of May 2014 and had a wonderful holiday

Every review for the Tropical Sunset Beach talks about the location and, of course, they are right. The hotel is not only on the brilliant beach with wonderful sunsets but it is also an integral part of Zaccios bar and restaurant. We found the bar to be brilliant with a great team - particular mention to Trudy and Steve, however when we talked to other guests about the restaurant, opinions were mixed - some really liked it and others, including ourselves, were not too impressed and found it just OK

The beach and the beach beds etc were under control of Curly, what a good guy - nothing was too much trouble and he even supplied the local newspapers every day

Rooms were very comfortable, not particularly luxurious but everything was there, including a well equipped small kitchen - everything needed for holiday times occasional use. Bathroom was ok - shower was excellent and the hot water was always hot at all times of day !
Room was Air Conditioned and also had a big ceiling fan - both were great and importantly were QUIET !

Hotel staff were brilliant always there to help - particular mention to receptionists Chantelle and Shekira. Our room attendant Avril was brilliant and man about the house Justin was excellent too. Security was shared between Victor and Mark both spot on

Great value and as I said we will be returning for more fun in the sun

Room Tip: High floors get better views but be aware the hotel has no lift

Sunswept is again undergoing refurbishment and, apparently, will soon be called 'Tropical Sunset' (it used to be called Inn on The Beach a while back!). However, don't let this put you off because the location is, frankly, the best on St. James Beach (near Holetown).

Whilst there is a good pool in the grounds, the location of the hotel, right on the beach, means that ocean swimming is right there, along with all the tropical fish and corals you can imagine

All the spacious and clean rooms face the ocean and the sunsets are breathtaking. Breakfast on the balcony each morning is a guaranteed way to start your day right. And if you're just chillin' at lunchtime, you can walk into Zacchios, right off the beach. Their food, drinks, service and location are top notch.

Grocery shopping is right across the street at the Sunset Crest shopping centre and there's lots of other shopping locally without having to go into Bridgetown.

An excellent apartment-hotel for a truly relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean views

I wanna say about one bad thing first - rooms need maintenance, especially bathroom are worn out. Beach chairs and towels probably also need to be changed. That's it. Many good things. Beach area is nice, ocean view rooms really have great sunset view. Room in general is comfortable as well as balcony. AC works so quite (which is not a common thing even in very good hotels). Friendly staff, always glad to assist. Nice restaurant and bar right at the hotel. Food is yummy and service is good. Beach area is fantastic. You can walk to the left and to the right alone the beach and you'll find pretty places with water sports, restaurants and splendid views to make pictures. Location is another good thing about the hotel. Everything you make think of is right near the hotel. Supermarket, shopping malls, souvenir shops, ATM, etc. Also close to the main island sights. Bridgetown is busy, lots of cars and people. St. James is so cozy. I am glad I chose this area to stay.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms

I absolutely loved staying here. The hotel is right on the beach and I loved waking up each morning with a beautiful view from our balcony. It is also walking distance to a grocery store, mall, and a lot of restaurants. The customer services was amazing and called a cab for us when we needed to get around. The rooms are pretty basic but we weren't in Barbados to hang out in a hotel room :-) One downfall was that the cleaning ladies can get pretty aggressive when they are ready to clean your room. I even put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and still woke up to the chain lock snapping the next morning when we wanted to sleep in. Other than that, there is nothing bad I could say about this place!
