“Nishi Restaurant is Worth A Try!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

-NISHI Restaurant, the setting and atmosphere was extremely welcoming and the staff quick and genuine service was a plus for me.

I totally had enjoyed the evening there. The meal it was simply amazing; started with Shrimp Tempura and moments later the Volcano and for desert the Chocolate Terrine with a Cappuccino and of course Wine which I love. And a great bottle of dry, red wine was suggested by Paul himself as he is quite interactive with his customers.

With great meal and service as such, no doubt I shall return!!!

“Welcoming with great atmosphere and great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

We had a brilliant evening here, a great location in Holetown in a building that has been various different restaurants over the years and is full of character. The owner was very friendly, chatting with each table and checking that all was going well. Great service all round. Lovely sushi - they even made extra salmon nigiri for us when we told the owner it was our 9 year old daughter's favourite and the chef was delighted to see her wolf down 4 pieces. There's a variety of dishes on the menu to suit everyone and a good wine list. It was busy though so book ahead. We didn't stay too late due to our little one but on our way out we noticed a lovely lounge/bar area that would be great to chill out in with a pre or post dinner drink. I'd like to go back with just the husband for a more romantic/grown up experience!

“Our first visit, but certainly not our last”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

I don't know why we had not been to Nishi before, as we used to like Olive's, the restaurant that preceded it. However, when we looked at the menu online, we realised that they served our kind of food and decided to try it out. Their spicy sushi was excellent, the seafood soup was very tasty but a little too thick, while their Thai prawn green curry was commendable but would have benefitted from more sauce. The service was attentive and good. We washed the meal down with a very pleasant, dry Cotes de Provence Rose. Overall one of the better meals that we have experienced in St James.

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

Nishi - A very well kept secret! On arrival we received a very warm welcome as we entered into the courtyard/bar area. We were asked if we would like to have a drink first or if we would like to go straight to our table which we chose to do. We were taken upstairs and seated by the window. Daniel our waiter introduced himself and looked after us perfectly for the evening. The menu had dishes to suit everyones taste. A traditional English section with homemade pies and fat chips, Bistro choices and the Sushi bar. I had the Wild Mushroom Crepe to start which was to die for and my friend had the Tempura Shrimp (we both shared it was so good). We then both chose the Thai Prawn Curry for our main with it prepared to suit our different spice levels. Dessert was the Mango Cheesecake and only the word yummy could describe it! At the beginning of our meal we asked Daniel about the Sushi menu as we both have never really tried it and with his recommendations going on what seafood we like (and we are a bit picky) he put together a few tasters for us which were very nice (can't believe I ate Sushi). With three areas to dine - one upstairs and two downstairs the restaurant was full and they were turning people away. Both owners Steve and Paul were at the restaurant and came around to each table to say hello. We had an amazing evening with great food, great service and a great atmosphere we will definitely be going back again. Its no longer a secret as we will be recommending it to everyone. Thank you to all the staff but especially Steve, Paul and Daniel for looking after us so well and making the evening so enjoyable.
